If you’re feeling “all fired up by Republican lies” — in and out of the debates — you’ll feel glad to know that Actually.Org is getting “ready to go spread the truth before Election Day.” Remember when President Barack Obama hilariously “slow-jammed” the news with Jimmy Fallon, and got over two million viewers to watch his speech in support of subsidized Stafford college loans? According to New York Times blogger Michael D. Shear, Sara Silverman, Rosie Perez, W. Kamau Bell, Lizz Winstead, and other comedians are taking this one step farther by creating humorous fact checking videos.
“We know that opposition tracking footage and research-based fact checks aren’t the sexiest things out there,” explains Rodell Mollineau, president of the American Bridge 21st Century superpac, which is partnering with Jewish Council for Education and Research to produce the videos. “So we embrace this opportunity to break through the clutter and find a way to get information directly to voters who may not have otherwise seen it.”
The videos will roll out as Election Day — November 6th — draws closer. You can watch the introductory video below:
The following videos will be released soon:
- Easier as a Latino? Rosie Perez wishes Mitt had it so easy.
- F*ck Science! W. Kamau Bell hates science! Just like Mitt Romney.
- Life begins at incorporation. Sarah Silverman and Lizz Winstead on people, or as Mitt calls them, “corporations.”
