Charity President Infuriated By Paul Ryan’s Little Faux Soup Kitchen Stunt

Even though Captain Capitalist has previously stated that he’s “not concerned with the poor”  and he’d probably just put them on the roof of his car, his Alex P. Keaton VP took it upon himself to do sort of rich guy fantasy camp and wash dishes at  a soup kitchen in Youngstown, Ohio ( a crucial swing state with plenty of middle-class voters to hoodwink). But there’s just one minute problem with Paul Ryan’s not-so-carefully planned photo-op:  breakfast had already been served and the dishes had already been washed.  That’s right–the work-out bro and worshiper of sociopathic, unwavering libertarian Ayn Rand (well, except for her well-established Atheism) can’t even successfully pretend to care about the poor. In all fairness, these type of photo-op disasters could happen to any politician irrespective of party, but that it happened to man who’s not just a VP candidate, but also a man who’s supposedly a big time Christian complicates matters for a Romney campaign that has struggled enormously to  show empathy for anyone without car elevators.  And  Brian J. Antal, president of the Ohio charity that runs the soup kitchen in question, isn’t pleased at all with Ryan’s PR stunt.

Antal was considerably upset given that his charity receives the bulk of its coffers from private donations, which could exponentially come  from wealthy republican-leaning individuals. Therefore, Antal wishes to keep his charity largely apolitical and doesn’t take kindly to unctuous politicians exploiting hie charity for political gain.

We’re a faith-based organization; we are apolitical because the majority of our funding is from private donations,” Antal said in a phone interview Monday afternoon. “It’s strictly in our bylaws not to do it. They showed up there, and they did not have permission. They got one of the volunteers to open up the doors.” (Washington Post)

But while Antal is justifiably pissed that the Ryan people ramrodded their way through his quiet, apolitical charity  he’s super pissed that Ryan didn’t do anything at all.

“The photo-op they did wasn’t even accurate. He did nothing. He just came in here to get his picture taken at the dining hall.” Antal later told NBC News that Ryan had cleaned some dirty dishes; his original comment was based on secondhand information from a volunteer.

It’s safe to say that this is what happens when you let a privileged son of a patrician who will do and say anything to buy the election, no matter how much he bungles things in the process, let another son of privilege play Mother Theresa dress-up so as to convey a “populist and caring” image in spite of  hilariously, decidedly anti-poor and anti-middle class policies. So don’t expect to see a Paul Ryan dish-washing workout video anytime soon.
