Just in time for Halloween, when we dress up as flesh-eating zombies and other assorted monsters, a real life horror story has come to light.
The FBI has charged 28-year-old, Gilberto Valle (already being dubbed “The Cannibal Cop”) with plotting to kidnap, rape, torture and cannibalize (presumably in that order) an unknown number of women. Courthouse News reports:
The following exchange took place between Valle and an unnamed co-conspirator (“CC-1″), according to the complaint:
”CC-1: How big is your oven?
”Valle: Big enough to fit one of these girls if I folded their legs … The abduction will have to be flawless … I know all of them … ['Victim-1'], I can just show up at her home unannounced, it will not alert her, and I can knock her out, wait until dark and kidnap her right out of her home.”
Later, they discussed how to cook her, the FBI claims:
”CC-1: It’s really hard to dislocate (lock) a jaw. Also, how would we put her over the fire, spitting kills the girl. Have to put her into a kind of cage. What is your favorite cut of meat?
”Valle: I was thinking of tying her body onto some kind of apparatus … cook her over low heat, keep her alive as long as possible.
”Her days are numbered,” Valle later wrote to the co-conspirator, according to the complaint. “I’m glad you’re on board. She does look tasty doesn’t she?”
It gets worse:
One document, titled “Abducting and Cooking [Victim-1]: a Blueprint,” contained the victim’s name, date of birth, height, weight and bra size, and a list of “materials needed,” including a car, chloroform and rope, the FBI claims.
“Valle: It is going to be so hard to restrain myself when I knock her out … But I will really get off on knocking her out, tying up her hands and bare feet and gagging her. Then she will be stuffed into a large piece of luggage and wheeled out to my van.
“CC-2: just make sure she doesn’t die before I get her.
“Valle: No need to worry. She will be alive. It’s a short drive to you. I think I would rather not get involved in the rape. You paid for her. She is all yours and I don’t want to be tempted the next time I abduct a girl.”
Valle had at least two co-conspirators and was planning on making a paying career out of kidnapping women for clients, in addition to the ones he would be kidnapping for his own personal “use.” Valle is also accused of using his position in the police department to gather intelligence on his intended victims.
As far as criminal masterminds go, Valle is no Hannibal Lecter. He was undone by the most mundane of means: his wife found his online conversations on his computer. After she (wisely) fled out of state, she alerted the police and FBI, who proceeded to raid Valle’s home and confiscate his computer. Apparently Valle had been using Facebook to make his plans. He might as well have written his plans on a chalkboard and left it in the living room.
But Valle’s not all bad! The Daily News also reports that he was angered that the “liberal court system” had failed fellow officer, Sgt. Craig Bier:
“Thug who shot a queens cop last night was only locked up for numerous armed robberies and attempted murder. Thank you very much liberal court system for letting this guy out.”
Not that this is a political story in any meaningful way, but can anyone honestly say they’re surprised that a man that hates women enough to kill and eat them is not a liberal?
