Romney Sows Fear And Lies In Ohio – Republican Racism Called Out By Republican

Romney falsely claims Jeep plans to move all production to China, while top Colin Powell advisor indicts Republican Party as “full of racists.”
In a stump speech Thursday, in Defiance, Ohio, Republican Presidential Candidate, Mitt Romney, told one of his biggest lies of the campaign, sowing fear in the heart of the Rust Belt. As reported today by the Detroit Free Press, Romney told a crowd of supporters, who collectively groaned at hearing the false news…
“I saw a story today that one of the great manufacturers in this state, Jeep, now owned by the Italians, is thinking of moving all production to China.”
The problem, of course, is that the report is utterly false. Jeep is a division of the Chrysler Corporation, which—along with General Motors—was rescued by President Obama’s federal assistance to the auto industry in 2008 and Defiance, Ohio is the site of a major Chrysler plant, cranking out…Jeeps! Romney has been trailing consistently in all polls in critical swing-state Ohio, largely due to his now infamous New York Times Op-Ed in 2008 titled, “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt,” referring to the entire, then floundering American automobile industry.

Playing once again to the fears of Americans, Romney was gleefully repeating false stories—spread on conservative blogs—which twisted a Bloomberg News report. Bloomberg.com had actually detailed plans by Italian-owned Chrysler to expand its operations inside China, to produce its full range of models there, in order to capitalize in that growing market and meet Chinese demand for different types of vehicles.
Chrysler mentioned nothing at all in relation to any plans of closing its North American facilities, which have been humming and—most recently—even expanding its American manufacturing, adding 1,100 assembly line jobs this week in a plant near Detroit, Michigan.
In fact, Thursday, Chrysler Vice President of Communications, Gualberto Ranieri, in a company release intended to rebut Romney’s lie and quell the panic it was sure to cause in the community, stated:
Let’s set the record straight: Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China. It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China for the world’s largest auto market. U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.
Seeding fear and panic, while courting racial division, has become a cynical routine lately by Team Romney as the campaign enters its final days. Today, for example, Romney surrogate, former New Hampshire Republican Governor and inveterate racist blowhard, John Sununu, had to walk back racist remarks he made Thursday on CNN, claiming that fellow Republican, former Secretary of State, Gen. Colin Powell, had endorsed the President’s reelection—not based on policy or qualifications—but based on race.
Of course, Colin Powell can easily defend himself…should he care to get down in the gutter with Sununu. But Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, Powell’s former Chief of Staff, angrily indicted his own party (Video) on Friday’s episode of MSNBC’s “The Ed Show” with Ed Schultz….
My party, unfortunately, is the bastion of those people, not all of them but most of them, who are still basing their decisions on race. Let me just be candid: My party is full of racists. And the real reason a considerable portion of my party wants president Obama out of the White House has nothing to do with the content of his character, nothing to do with his competence as Commander-in-Chief, as President, and everything to do with the color of his skin. And that’s despicable.

If you can’t figure out why people are thinking and acting the way they are when it comes to Obama, I think that Justin “Filthy Liberal Scum” Rosario summed it up best when he wrote this:
“If you are currently thinking that racism has nothing to do with the unprecedented hatred of Obama, go away, I’m talking to the grownups.”
