During an appearance on a show called NRA News (?!), National Rifle Association President Wayne LaPierre — responding to Bob Costas’ comments about guns and Jovan Belcher’s murder-suicide — suggested that Jovan Belcher’s girlfriend should have been armed. During the December 3rd segment, LaPierre said, “It’s kind of like my phone started ringing the minute it happened. It’s disgusting.” But apparently it wasn’t the murder-suicide that LaPierre found to be “disgusting,” it was Bob Costa’s subjecting his poor, hapless listeners to a “lecture on gun control” while they were just trying to watch football.
