Even though we’re still recovering from one of the seemingly longest, costliest and nastiest elections in modern history, serial adulterer and 2012 presidential wannabe, Newt Gingrich, is trying to remain relevant by weighing in on the 2016 race. Mitt Romney was and will always be a crappy Christmas sweater that nobody ever liked, but who Republicans were forced to accept since everyone else running was either insane or unqualified or both.
Regarding a possible Hillary run:
“The Republican party is incapable of competing at that level,” Gingrich said during an appearance on NBC’s Meet The Press.
“First of all, she’s very formidable as a person,” Gingrich said“She’s a very competent person. She’s married to the most popular Democrat in the country; they both think [it] would be good for her to be president. It makes it virtually impossible to stop her for the nomination.” (Huffington Post)
Hillary, who President Barack Obama Obama aptly kept at bay by making her his Secretary of State during his first term, is perennially a presidential candidate. Her popularity is higher than ever, and she would essentially cruise to securing the nomination amidst a relatively weak field of possible Democrats. Better yet, she would fulfill every humorist’s dream of ensuring Bill becomes First Lady, and gets to hang around all the other first ladies on the international social circuit.
Along with having support from the always popular and beloved godfather of the Democratic party, Bill Clinton, Hillary would also have the vigorous support of President Barack Obama, who will still be a “relatively popular president,” Gingrich added.
“Trying to win that will be truly the Super Bowl, ” said Gingrich (Huffington Post)
Well, before we start placing bets on a Democratic Patriots versus a Republican Rams, Hillary was the inevitable candidate in 2008, and it beget a level of narcissistic arrogance and expediency that not even Fox News’ Dick Morris could predict. It may be just a cynical ploy to get Saturday Night Live Alum, Amy Poehler, to bring back ‘the cackle,’ but America really seems to dig a Hillary run. For example, a Washington Post poll found that 57 percent of people would support Clinton as a 2016 presidential candidate. We cannot discount a Chris Christie run (or waddle), who judiciously stayed out of the 2012 Inane Clown Posse and whose popularity is soaring in NJ following his bi-partisan efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
