Meet Keith Ratliff, the operator of FPS Industries Global LLC and the FPSRussia Youtube channel, reportedly the 9th largest channel on Youtube with over 3 million subscribers and half a billion views. His body was discovered last Thursday with a single gunshot to the head. The death is being reported as a homicide.
His body was discovered near several of the precious firearms which he was such a fan of. On his YouTube channel you can see the sheer joy he had when he was using his weaponry. His life was dedicated to firearms.
He left behind his wife Amanda and their two-year old Jayden. In an interview with a local television station she had these things to say on the death of her husband:
Who and why? For a person to take somebody else’s life, I mean why?
His sister Kelly further added her insights:
For him not to pull out that gun and try to defend himself, he had to feel comfortable around somebody. Either that or he was ambushed.
For almost a month now, gun advocates have been making a stronger-than-usual effort to push the idea that guns prevent crimes. The statements by Kelly point out the flaw in this argument: the majority of crimes do not announce themselves beforehand, they come as a surprise and therefore either the gun would not prevent the crime, or, worse, it may have caused an escalation of it.
Whoever did this to Mr. Radliff needs to be caught, tried, and convicted for his or her crime. The more radical among us would instead want to suspend the law, and enact a form of vigilante justice, like some form of “High Noon” shootout or lynch mob. This is a nation of laws, rules, and regulations. It is those things which prevent the nation collapsing in upon itself.
Contrary to conspiracy theorist ranting, there is no plan to take away people’s guns. Discussions so far involve restrictions on gun manufacturers…but you’d never know that if you only listened to the NRA.
Of course, they would just say that if Radiff hadn’t had all those guns handy, the killer would have just used a credit card.
