Smart, cautionary move or just overly PC?

David Pakman’s topic is about a New Jersey father, Shawn Moore, who gave his son a hunting rifle for his 11th birthday. The rifle looks, perhaps, more threatening than it is – it looks like an assault weapon but is a .22 in disguise. A picture of the 11-year-boy holding this gun somehow found its way onto the Internet, somehow came to the attention of authorities, causing both Child Services and the police to show up at their house. When the mother called Mr. Moore to let him know of these visits, he immediately called his “Second Amendment lawyer,” and things escalated from there.

  • Overly PC.

If the kid’s old man gave him a rifle, and since the old man is a cop, I’m assuming that the old man is giving him the wherewithal needed for his son to operate and maintain said rifle- responsibly.

And one kid gets suspended for a Pop Tart…

Ditto, except it was family & we went dove hunting instead of duck hunting. And the shotgun was a 20 gauge, not a 12 gauge.

When I was that age I had a 22 and a 12 gauge shotgun. I belonged to a Rod and Gun club where I wen to an indoor range each week to learn how to shoot as well as learn gun safety. I went duck hunting with older adult members of the club as well as skeet shooting.
