People with missing limbs were reported as well as seen during live coverage by Addicting Info staff members.

UPDATE: Although the cause of the blasts is still currently unknown, counter-terrorist units have been released to certain locations in the city.

Two Explosions Reported at Boston Marathon, Multiple Injuries Reported

UPDATE: MSNBC has reported “mass casualties,” and Fox News’ staff were heard saying, “Oh my God. They’re dead.”

Deaths have been reported but are not confirmed at this time. The first explosion occurred in the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel. A third explosion has been reported, and was a controlled blast set off by law enforcement.

UPDATE: The Boston Police Department has tweeted saying there have been two confirmed deaths and at least 23 injuries.

UPDATE: Explosion source was bombs, according to Boston Marathon organizers.

UPDATE: It is notable to point out that the parents of those in the Newtown massacre were present, with the first 20 miles being dedicated to the children lost and the last six to the educators. The explosions happened near the finish line, or what was also the end of the “Newtown Memorial Mile.”

UPDATE: Witness statement, as reported by the Associated Press: “I started running toward the blast. And there were people all over the floor,” he said. “We started grabbing tourniquets and started tying legs. A lot of people amputated. … At least 25 to 30 people have at least one leg missing, or an ankle missing, or two legs missing.”

Two more explosive devices have been found and dismantled.

UPDATE: The Associated Press is reporting a Boston police commissioner to have stated there has been a third, related explosion at the JFK library, with no injuries reported. The commissioner is urging people to stay indoors and not to congregate in large groups. Cellphone service in the Boston area has been turned off in order to stop the possible remote detonation of more explosive devices.

UPDATE: President Obama to speak on the tragic disaster at 3:10 EST.

President Barack Obama spoke of multiple injuries and the lack of information at this time, and extended condolences and sadness for those slain and the families of victims, both killed and injured. He also stated that those responsible will be found and the “full weight” of justice will come down on them.

UPDATE: NBC reports that some marathon runners that had already finished continued running to the hospital in order to give blood.

At least 80 reportedly injured.

UPDATE: 110 or more injured. Many are in serious condition, and of the two dead, one was an eight-year-old. Other children have been injured as well.

UPDATE: Three confirmed dead and 140+ injuries. Further coverage by Addicting Info will be found in other articles.

Here is video of the disaster, found on the Huffington Post. Warning: some footage is graphic and viewers may find it upsetting.
