15 Differences Between Democrats And Republicans

Democrats and Republicans - 15 big differences between them.

I’ve noticed over the years, there are some fundamental differences in the way Republican and Democratic politicians think. Here are just 15 examples.

Still think there’s no difference between Democrats and Republicans?

I’ve noticed over the years, there are some fundamental differences in the way Republican and Democratic politicians think. Here are just 15 examples.

(1) Republicans fear that the government has too much control over corporations. Democrats fear that corporations have too much control over our government.

(2) Democrats believe it benefits all of us to help the weakest and the poorest among us. Republicans believe it benefits all of us to help the wealthiest and most powerful among us.

(3) Republicans believe large corporations will always do what is best for the American people if the government stays out of the way. Democrats believe large corporations would disembowel you and sell your organs to the highest bidder if the government didn’t stop them.

(4) Democrats believe everyone is entitled to health care regardless of their ability to pay. Republicans believe everyone is entitled to jack squat if they can’t pay for health care.

(5) Democrats believe too much of our money goes to crooked corporate executives who take government subsidies and pay themselves $80 million salaries. Republicans believe too much of our money goes to teachers who make $30,000 a year.

(6) Democrats believe anything that helps the American people during a recession or a time of crisis is the true essence of patriotism. Republicans believe anything that helps the American people during a recession or a time of crisis is the true essence of communism.

(7) Democrats believe that we need to set high standards for clean air and drinking water. Republicans believe that standards for clean air and water are burdensome over-regulation.

(8) Democrats believe the President and Congress need to work together to create jobs during a weak economy. Republicans believe that Congress should do nothing to create jobs and then blame the President.

(9) Democrats believe that corporate polluters should be made to pay for the cleanup of their pollution. Republicans believe that making corporations clean up their pollution is burdensome over-regulation.

(10) Democrats believe our health care system exists solely for the purpose of making people healthy. Republicans believe our health care system exists solely for the purpose of making a healthy profit.

(11) Democrats believe Congress should be of the people, by the people and for the people. Republicans believe corporations are the people.

(12) Democrats believe that corporations have too much influence over Congress due to their lobbyists and huge campaign contributions. Republicans believe the middle class has too much influence over Congress due to their voting and paying taxes.

(13) Democrats believe we need to protect victims of corporate negligence by allowing Americans to file lawsuits against corporations. Republicans believe we need to protect large corporations from lawsuits by Americans who’ve been victimized by them.

(14) Democrats believe that the rich should be taxed more than the poor and middle class. Republicans believe that the rich should be allowed to keep all their wealth, except for the millions in campaign contributions they give to politicians.

(15) Democrats believe that too much money in politics produces corruption and destroys the American way of life. Republicans believe that money and corruption in politics are the American way of life.

These are just my observations from a lifetime of watching Democratic and Republican politicians. I’m sure some Republican will come up with their own clever list.

Feel free to add any differences you’ve noticed between the two parties in the comments section below.

  • I’m sure Republicans will come up with their own little lists, but as “David” so ineloquently demonstrates, they’ll be far from clever.

  • Republicans- are Hypocrites, of the worst sort.

    Democrats- attempt.

    This Article- Truth.

  • i totally agree with all 15 differences! So very true and well said! Thanks so much for the article!

    • ME TOO!…with a little “editing”…

I’ve noticed over the years, there are some fundamental differences in the way Republican and Democratic politicians think. Here are just 15 examples. CORRECTED…

Republicans fear that the government has too much control over corporations ability to create wealth, Democrats fear that corporations have too much control over our government which don’t allow for “fear” among voters to vote for them.

Democrats believe it benefits all of us to help the weakest and the poorest among us via “entitlements” so they will depend on the government for Votes to keep their 1%’er statuses. Republicans believe it benefits all of us to help the wealthiest and most powerful among us so they can create more jobs and provide for the “American Dream”.

Republicans believe large corporations will always do what is best for the American people if the government stays out of the way because American’s are not stupid and will make or break the company. Democrats believe large corporations would disembowel you them and sell your their organs to the highest bidder if American people found out how correct they were.

Democrats believe everyone is entitled to health care regardless of their ability to pay and want to ensure “voters” by enabling them to be dependent and worthless. Republicans believe everyone is entitled to the American Dream and should have the best health care available direct from “Doctors” and NOT from the Government deciding who lives and who dies.

Democrats believe too much of our money goes to crooked corporate executives who take government subsidies and pay themselves $80 million salaries and don’t give enough to their Washington elitist empires and Union Thug Buddies . Republicans believe too much of our money goes to the City, County, State & Federal Government Bureaucrats rather then the teachers who make $30,000 a year.

Democrats believe anything that helps the American people during a recession or a time of crisis is the true essence of patriotism, after all “you can’t let a good crisis go to waste” and must use this to “enable more zombie voters”. Republicans believe anything that helps the American people during a recession or a time of crisis is to get the damn government and government bureaucrats out of their Fricken way so they can make more money and pay less tax and keep it for they family.

Democrats believe that we need to set high standards for clean air and drinking water and create a “Global Warming Hoax” to create “fear” and “dependency” on them as the “savors” to get reelected. Republicans believe that standards for clean air and water should be left up to the people that drink the water and breath the air rather than Washington Bureaucrats that blow smelly smoke from that ass.

Democrats believe the President and Congress need to work together to create jobs during a weak economy ONLY if Congress is all Democrats. Republicans believe that Congress should do nothing to create jobs using tax dollars but rather eliminate haft the size of government, eliminate all the fraud and corruption between the Unions and Democrats and allow companies to make money to hire more workers.

Democrats believe that corporate polluters should be made to pay for the cleanup of their pollution by Paying Bribes Under the Table to get off easy. Republicans believe that making corporations clean up their pollution should be done without political payoffs.

Democrats believe our health care system exists solely for the purpose of making people healthy and it shouldn’t be that way…unless the Democrats can make money off the doctors and the patients. Republicans believe our health care system exists solely for the American Public and should cost less by eliminating Democratic kickbacks and corruption payments and extortion of doctors.

Democrats believe Congress should be of the people, by the people and for the people as long as they can control the Public School System and keep everyone stupid. Republicans believe education should be handled by local school boards and get rid of all the government waste and paying 50 supervisors to watch 2 teachers.

Democrats believe that corporations have too much influence over Congress due to their lobbyists and huge campaign contributions and as such, it’s not their fault in accepting free gifts, vacations, cash under the table, kickbacks and Illegal Stock Trading. Republicans believe the Democrats need to be exposed for the Union kickbacks and corruption of public money.

Democrats believe we need to protect victims of corporate negligence by allowing Americans to file lawsuits against corporations so all their lawyer friends can get rich and give kickbacks to the democrats. Republicans believe we need to protect large corporations from lawsuits by Americans who’ve been victimized by them and limit the amount of awards called Tort Reform so you don’t award $20 million for a broken finger that puts businesses out of business and American’s lose their job and have to pay higher insurance premiums.

Democrats believe that the rich should be taxed more than the poor and middle class so that’s why the top 10% pay 90% of all the taxes. If they keep the poor, poor and stupid and depend on entitlements, welfare, food stamps and free housing, they’re guaranteed to keep getting their vote. Republicans believe that the rich should be allowed to keep all their wealth, except for the millions in campaign contributions they give to politicians so the rich can start more companies and hire more people, pay them more, drill for oil and make the cost of gas go down to 40 cents a gallon so all American’s can increase their standard of living.

Democrats believe that too much money in politics produces corruption and destroys the American way of life and that’s why they like and support it…after all, it’s like Rahm Emanuel said “you can’t let a good crisis go to waste. Republicans believe that money and corruption in politics are the American way of life that HAS to change!

      • Nah, David’s edits fail due to too much straining at gnats.

      • 1. makes NO SENSE AT ALL. Can’t even comment on it really total gibberish.

        2. Yeah those “job creators” have really been creating jobs haven’t they? Have you noticed the last 10 years? When were those Bush tax cuts going to start creating jobs? Rich getting RICHER DOESN’T = MORE JOBS! Repeat it to yourself! If you don’t believe me take a look at 2000 – 2010. Ah what’s the use…Pubs hate facts.

3.Uh the government DID stay out of the way… then we had the Great Depression, Child Labor, no standards for workers or consumers, snake oil sales… THE MARKET DOESN’T ALWAYS WORK. Don’t believe me take an econ class. Learn about the 6 basic market failures. Then get back to us on that.

        4. Most people on welfare (over 75%) end up getting back on their feet and getting off welfare within a year. PUBLIC ASSISTANCE DOESN’T MAKE PEOPLE DEPENDENT. Just like Bill Gates’ 4 million dollar free handout trust fund didn’t make him not work did it? I suppose you think letting them starve and throwing them out on the street will give them a better chance of being self sufficient? It WILL give them a better chance of committing crimes and going to jail which costs about 4 times as much.

Go find a country where there are no government entitlements. We call those “3rd world countries.” Somalia is nice go there and stay there. You’ll for sure be super successful without all that “big government” in the way! Quit messing up our country by voting for Republican scumbags who don’t give a flying rats ass about you.

OMG “Global Warming Hoax” Here’s a list of the scientific organizations who are in on the big “hoax”
the science academies of Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sweden, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, The USA, the world’s scientific and engineering academies, the InterAcademy Council,European Academy of Sciences and Art,Network of African Science Academies,Royal Society of New Zealand,Royal Society of the United Kingdom,National Research Council (US), The American Institute of Physics… and many many others. Pretty much every scientist from Stephen Hawking to Neil DeGrasse Tyson believes that global warming is real and is man-made and is a problem. Yeah they’re ALL in on the BIG HOAX…
But hey Glenn Beck has a chalkboard you FUCKING DUMBASS!

I can’t even read any more of your retarded drivel at this point. If this is really the best Republicans have it’s just amazing they can dress themselves and read basic English. No wonder tea partiers can’t even spell their signs. Really with that level of reasoning how do you function in society? I really want to know.

      • Irony = “American’s are not stupid”

      • How’s the weather inside that bubble?

  • ..and the book can also be worn as a hat.

  • The author, while attempting to be thoughtful and witty, just made an “ass” of him self. These horrible over-generalizations are what’s wrong with people today. I am left wanting to ask the author a few questions:
First, did that feel good? I hope so, it seemed like you had some ignorance you needed to spew.
Second, was it your aim to write a biased article with useless information and no facts? If so, good job!
Whiny over-generalizations are not informative or witty. Pat yourself on the back and tell yourself you did some good for the world by writing this article, because it seems you have no problem accepting false information as truth.

    • LOL, Agreed! Abby…that’s why the author only goes by “Jeff”…got to hide behind exposure of who he is.

      • I have written extensively using my full name because I don’t give a damn, but wanting to avoid hate mail, psychos finding out where you live, future or current employerspassing unfair judgement and/or having your family and friends targeted is not cowardly, nor does it mean what they have to say holds less weight or is less important to them. Frankly, in the world we live in, it’s probably the smart thing to do. I notice you have posted as “David” and the poster you responded to posted as “Abby”. Perhaps we could get your full names first?

    • Gored your ox, did he?

  • I don’t think the Republicans have anyone intelligent enough to create “their own clever list.”

  • Precisely, Names. Can anyone name a country anxious to abandon its state-regulated socialized medicine in favor of a US-style non-health non-care non-system?

  • GAH!!! I have to do a report on five differences between democrats and republicans and found this. Though, after done reading this I see that this was written by a democrat. Is this accurate? Cause I can NOT have my teacher questioning my report. :/

    • Um… wouldn’t that be plagiarism? You definitely can’t have your teacher finding out you stole all those clever little quips from a professional writer. Also, you’d have to do some research to assert the claims made by the article in order to lend it more credibility other than the way it plays on the assumption that the audience is already in agreement with every statement. If you wanted to do it on the cheap, find tiny, insignificant differences, like what days were each party founded; meaningless, but a difference, nonetheless. Another good one is how many members each party has, how many women each party has, etc. Go with demographics. There are easily five major demographic differences between the two parties.

    • Take this basis, and use it to do research into the five you think will be most accurate…

And yes, it was written by a Democrat, if it was a Republican, it would be “Why the Democrats are American hating commies…”

  • Names is right. Absolutely right. If these people had preventative care, they wouldn’t end up in the emergency room. The whole “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” argument from the right is just not realistic for everyone. Yet they hold up examples of a handful of people who have been able to and expect the same for the majority. Yea! Everyone can be millionaire CEOs if we just try hard enough! Forget the homeless vet who has psychological issues, or the teen mom who is on drugs because she was sexually abused. The churches are going to take care of all of them? We are only as strong as our weakest link. We should(by paying our fair share of taxes to the government and holding politician’s feet to the fire) take care of our people.

  • The main difference between the two parties can be summed up like this: Republicans are assholes, Democrats are schmucks.

  • Ridiculous! The writer of this article is working hard to keep the corporations in control by spreading the moronic notion that Democrats are not corporate whores. Nonsense! They are. Obama and Democrats in Congress prove this day after day after day, yet the gullible continue to buy into their con.

Corporations and the plutocracy will continue to destroy this country until this type of gullibility stops. We ALL need to get out there and support a third party. The Democratic party of FDR is dead and gone. It is finished. Obama drove the final nail into that coffin; the corps are in charge now. The people have no representation and no political party looking out for them. Only the most gullible don’t “get” that.

The writer of this article should be ashamed for not paying attention.

    • Congressional Democrats are MOSTLY corporate whores. Congressional Republicans are ENTIRELY corporate whores AND aren’t even ashamed of it. Subtle but important difference.

    • Both parties have corrupted politicians in them, I will absolutely give you that.

However, the entire platform of their beliefs are WILDLY different and, time and again, you will see that the republican belief system benefits the rich and priveliged and the democrat belief system tries to help the poor.

I completely reject the notion that democrats and republicans are on even footing, and if anyone truly believes that, they are not paying attention to the legislation being churned by either party.

      • Samantha, if you believe the Democrats “try to help the poor” you are either a young person that’s drank the koolaid or an old person that believes in that ancient philosophy. The democrats pander to the rich no different than the republicans. The democrats in Washington are just as Rich & Powerful as the Republican’s. Nancy Pelosi is a perfect example of “looking out for the poor” all the while she conducts Illegal Insider Trading and makes MILLIONS off the American People…but that’s “different”? Get ahold of reality and use some common sense. Democrats don’t “help” the poor people any more…they’re smarter than that. They figures out the magic solution to “keep their wealth and power”…simply “enable” the poor so they are dependent on freebies and handouts and living on the system to create a base of guaranteed voters…for what purpose?…self serving “keep thy office, power & wealth”. Simple as that.

        • the BELIEF SYSTEM OF THE PEOPLE who proclaim to be democrats have an interest in helping the poor.

The BELIEF SYSTEM OF THE PEOPLE who proclaim to be republicans do not have that interest.

,,the whole bootstrap thing, god helps those who help themselves, , etc. . .

  • Silly silly article. I really laughed out loud that anyone believes any of this.

“Democrats fear that corporations have too much control over our government”

Righhhht…that is why all those major CEO’s are Obama’s advisories.

Look man. There are no differences. There is just the good-cop bad-cop charade that is being played out as we head towards globalization and the new world order.

We are EXACTLY where we’d be, WRT policy, if McCain had won.

    Vote Libertarian.

    • Right, because voting Libertarian is totally NOT a waste of a vote. But I guess taking advice from a guy who calls himself “TBone” is probably an ill-advised thing in itself.

      • Thomas – It is a waste to even go to the polls. On most policy issues Democrats and Republicans do the same things. A vote for one is a vote for the other.

        • You actually think al gore would have tortured people and lied us into war? Is so, you’re beyond dialogue. If not, how can you say it would be the same?

    • Vote Libertarian if you think there should be no social safety net at all and/or really hate poor people.

    • Right on. The author, while attempting to be thoughtful and witty, just made an “ass” of him self.

  • There are very few differences between the two parties anymore

    • The US political parties represent one thing only, what the lazy electorate lets happen during the primaries.
Apathetic whiny Americans complain about their political choices during and after the election but do very little to make sure better candidates are selected during the primaries.
Americans continue to allow corporations to select which candidates will get to run for the election, Americans endless complain about congress and the senate and then do practically nothing to make sure better candidates a selected during the primaries.
Americans fantasies endlessly about a better third political party or a better third choice, when the reality is due the structure of US politics, the primaries allow for any political party be it Green, Socialist, Libertarian to take either the Republican and or the Democratic nomination and make it their own it stead of the corporate parties candidate.

  • Democrats believe in nothing-except welfare, laziness, corruptness, and more taxes on everyone- and spending so they can have more votes-i.e power for their elitists and liberal anterior bung holers. Oh,and slavery for the majority minorities except activists who keep the minorities where they want them-on welfare and food stamps-forever! It assures them votes so they can take more of taxpayers bank accounts. Lincoln was a what? No, not a Democrat. You failed to mention that- along with a thousand other differences.

  • It’s evident that this article was written and promulgated by a leftist, socialist, racist democratic idiot who lies through his anterior hole and has no clue as to who the Republicans are and what they have always represented. What about Lincoln? Slavery? Etc. People fail to know the real story and truth unless they read and are semi-educated.Get the facts straight first, then you can compare notes from the racist Dems of the South and the Repubs of the Grand Old Party!

    • The racist Southern Democrats threw a tantrum after the passage of the Civil Rights Act (How DARE the government make it illegal to keep those uppity non-whites in their places!). Nixon decided to capitalize on that disaffection by playing the race card in his presidental campaign. As a result, there was a stampede of Southern voters from the Democratic Party to the GOP within a handful of years. Or do you really think that the overarching ideological leanings of the South flipped in a single election cycle? Hardly. Same people. Same history. Same racism. They just jumped ship for a party willing to pander to their prejudices in exchange for votes, and thus the modern GOP was born. Today’s Republicans get no credit for the accomplishments of Lincoln and other 19th Century humanitarian Republicans. It’s not the same party, and those politians of an earlier age wouldn’t even recognize the modern right wing. In fact, if the ignorant were to educate themselves on the body of thought written down by many of those earlier Republicans, they would find that those men would have spat in disgust on the greed, illiteracy and fiscal irresponsibility of today’s GOP. So, really, just stop trying to claim credit for earlier party greatness that you are not heir to. Today’s Republicans would have fought the abolishment of slavery tooth and nail for the same reasons those Southern Democrats did (because, idologically, they’re the same people and in many cases are literal *descendants* of the same people). Slave labor meant huge profits for plantation and business owners. It’s no surprise that for-profit prisons and rented-out corporate prison labor are so popular with Republicans. Neither is it any suprise that minorities are disproportionately represented in the largest prison population of any single country on the planet. It’s the old system of slavery back under a new name and motivated by the same greed.

    • Amazing you could type with your head that far up your ass. Kudos, sir. Now, pop that head outta there and get you act together. You’re embarrassing yourself.

    • Sadly, the Repubs are the “Grand old rich white men” party these days.

Take a look at the 2008 election, and tell me that aint true… Hell, look at 2012…

6 white men, 2 of em quite old, and most of the rest well on their way. White chick, she was driven out. Black man, he was pushed out.

Look at the policies the Repubs are testing the waters on all over the country. Almost nothing towards new rights, but a lot towards removing rights… Minorities, Women, LGBT… Repubs hate all of em!

    • If you honestly believe that today’s Republican party in any way embodies the values of Lincoln’s party, you’re even dumber that you apparently believe we are.

  • Billy Bob Thornton

Let’s put this in a FAUX News viewer format:
    Democrats are America-loving patriots.
    Republicans are Corporate Fascist Tools.

  • Democrats believe freedom comes with responsibilities. Republicans believe freedom means every man for himself.

  • The only thing wrong with this post is the graphic…. Dems and the GOP never sees eye-to-eye :-)

  • Wow… my sister put this on her FB page and I only just read the item and all your reviews of this… I’m thinking all of you really need to go back to school and learn something about Freedom and what it truly means. (Hint: try reading Common Sense or the actual text of the US Constitution for starters).

Your cheers about a “right to healthcare” really gets me going. We as a country declared long ago that a person’s labor was his/hers to own. Slavery has been abolished for nearly a century and a half, and yet the author and so many responding believe that you have the right to compel those in the medical profession to provide you with their services and products at no cost to you and at a price paid to that person which is not commensurate to their efforts at the labor.

I’m sure we could all agree that every human has a need for food, shelter and clothing (and even healthcare). We might also agree that not every human has these in adequate supply, let alone abundant. The fundamental difference is – do you have a right to those things without first agreeing with the current owner of them what their value is and voluntarily enacting with that owner a transaction to transfer that ownership to you? Democrats are of the belief that you do have the right through government to force the transaction at the rates the government deems suitable; Republicans believe that free will of the individual to negotiate the terms of the contract reigns supreme and that the role of government is only to ensure that the negotiated terms are honored by both parties.

Let’s look at a hypothetical – you most probably have in your possession right now, more than the clothing you are currently wearing, far more rooms in your apartment or house than you can occupy at any given time, and way more food than you could eat in one sitting (I presume this only because you are reading this on a website and are most probably educated and wealthy enough to own a computer).
Then you hear a knock on the door. It’s your federal government and they have 20 people in a van who all need shelter, food and clothing and you are told they will be taking this from you. You must surrender your house to these people; turn over all clothing you don’t “need” and all excess food to these people. You have no choice, the government knows best what you need and what they need, and the government has determined that you have “too much” and these people have more of a right to it than you do. Sounds a lot like walking into a doctor’s office and demanding of that doctor his/her time and expertise to treat your ailments, the drugs and tests required, and the occupancy in the room without his/her consent to have you there within his/her leased or owned offices.

Finally – if corporations a crooked and only want to pollute and consume and steal your organs for profit, then don’t do business with them any more. Do not buy one product or one service from them; remove your 401K money from their stocks; withdraw from your Pensions; cut up your credit cards and close your bank accounts; by ALL means do not allow yourself to be employed by them and help them make the world a horrible place.

    • The rest of the civilised world manages to do universal healthcare. Do you really think that the doctors in those countries are working for free?

    • Your hypothetical is so offbase, I don’t have time to submit a complete rebuttal. It is clear you haven’t done any independent research into Obama’s Healthcare plan and I don’t have the time to educate you.

As far as underhanded corporations, I can say this; if I discover a corporation that does things I don’t believe in, I stop using them. However, the average person does not have the time or resources to fully investigate the maker or provider of every service and product they purchase. If corporations were looking out for our best interests, would be we in the economic situation we are currently in? Most corporations exist to make money – not to be socially responsible.

Your over simplification of two complext topics – healthcare and corporate responsibility – doesn’t make you superior. In fact,it makes you just the opposite.

    • Its fine to pay a doctor for their time and for medications, tests, and treatments.

Its not fine to charge $35-50 for a coarse blanket that is poorly mass-produced, not warm at all, and thinner than a cheap towel. Or another $25 for a pillow. Neither of which you get to keep I may add. Or what about $100 for a single pill for nausea caused by something they are giving you and they know will cause it. The pill is made for a few dollars at the absolute most and a 30-day prescription is under $5.

Don’t believe me? Look at any cancer patient’s itemized bill. I’ve seen hundreds of these. The average cost per treatment often totals $10,000 without the blanket. Check ER bills. Its all there, in plain typed text.

    • To compare doctors to slavery makes no sense. Doctors have the choice to become doctors – they choose what profession to take. And over half of them chose a medical profession because they genuinely want to help people. You second to last paragraph is bullshit – that is not want Democrats want to happen. You mention that people should try reading common sense of the Constitution, yet you fail to quote either of them in your entire post. And based on what you said about healthcare, you think its Christian/American to abandon someone who has medical needs just because they don’t have the money to pay for it?

  • Proud UnAmerican

I have to laugh when I see the AmeriCon idiots who don’t believe in government and have to resort to fiction when they defend their nonsensical views. Since they hate the American way of life so much, I suggest they move to Somalia, or Afghanistan, where there is effectively no government and they can enjoy the benefits of a truly free society.

As for me, I shall continue to live in countries where healthcare is seen as a right and not a privilege of the rich or well-off. The “land of the free” has zero attraction for me as a destination.

    • Why do Republicans don’t want social health care ? because they OWN the the health insurance companies and make BILLIONS on it ! Once a social health care (run by the governement) get’s installed : they’ll be out of bussiness and have to WORK for their money !

      • The affordable care act is not a government take over of the healthcare industry, it simply states that in the best interest of the Nation as a whole, everyone should go out and find private health insuarance so you don’t become a burden to the tax payer if you get sick with out it. It also states that health insurance companies have to use at least 85% of their premiums on supplying health care instead of executive bonuses.

  • It is not just a difference in “beliefs” but a difference in ability to accurately perceive and accept reality.

For example, health care IS a fundamental human right, that right is recognized throughout the civilized world and is documented in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Democrats are capable of perceiving and accepting that reality whereas Republicans are either incapable or they choose to reject reality and accept fantasy.

As Colbert said “Reality has a well-know liberal bias.”

  • Love the list. Here’s one more: Democrats call for the resignation of their members caught in scandal. Republicans give them standing ovations.

  • First, I have marvel at how Paul makes sure every can in the country has access to health care. Now, maybe we “can” work on that for people?

Democrats USED to believe the bullet points on this list, but now they just give up and bend over. We are so truly screwed I’m not sure what will become of us. Perhaps I shall transform myself into a can and go get the knee replacements I desperately need. Perhaps if I were a can, I’d find a job.

    Yes, we’re CANS!

  • The trite, shallow, myopic & inane drivel being spewed about by most of these little people makes me fearful for the future of our country.

  • Both parties are so far out of touch with what the people of this country need. So out of touch with what this country needs.
Bring our troops, our money, and our jobs back to the United Staqtes where they belong! When are we going to get a president who has the balls(excuse me next female president)or guts to do this????

  • “Republicans are pro-life, until you’re born. Democrats are pro-life during your life.”

*BRILLIANT* just *BRILLIANT* The Republicans have the lock on the Christian Right due to their stand on abortion and gay rights. OK, fine, guess that kinda matches up. *WHY* is it that the CR doesn’t look at practically *EVERY* other issue and go “*HMM* Don’t think this was what Jesus said in The Book.”

While I liked the follow up comment to the quote “The right to life ends at birth.” my old gf had a more colorful take. “If your pre-born you’re golden…if you’re pre-K you’re *F*CKED*” Sad *AND* true. With the “coddling of the rich” I don’t think the lot of the poor ever gets a whole lot better. A hand up is *NOT* a hand out.

Maybe the “taking my money at gunpoint” taxation folks would rather be at the end of a *REAL* gun when some poor desperate soul robs them to feed their kids because their food stamps were cut off due to funding cuts…or worse, because they smoked a joint the weekend before they applied for benefits and were refused for failing a drug test.

I’ll turn off rant mode here and close with *MY* favorite take on taxation.

“I *LIKE* paying taxes, with them I buy civilization.”

  • This wasn’t skewed towards the Democrats at all! (Sarcasm) What BS!

  • The radical conservative comments here are case and point of the complete lack of accurate information, in depth understanding of basic Economics and an utter lack of education, so pervasive in the Republican party these days. Yikes. It’s astounding and frightening. They clearly have been misinformed by the latest Tea Party viral email, generated by some unemployed wacko voting against his own interests. This is so typical and symptomatic of the average Republican voter today. They repeat nonsense because they read or heard it somewhere, but are too lazy to really do any research or fact checking. They have and exude a lower emotional IQ because they are easily incited to hate their fellow Americans. They have somehow been sold this bill of goods they actually might have the opportunity to become one of the billionaires they champion. This is why they reject any suggestion of class warfare and refuse to acknowledge their own dire financial predicament and that of the majority of the population. They are still under the illusion that corporations are their “friends.” There is no appealing to their sense of reason, they haven’t got any. There is no point trying to enlighten them, they enjoy the darkness. It’s truly a tragic state of affairs. Through it all, Democrats still want to help these folks. We are not a party led but hate and disdain for our fellow Americans. Quite the contrary. We are not a party made up of poor people trying to steal from the wealthy. Quite the opposite. We have wealth, education and compassion. http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2011/08/22/300834/bloch-taxes-baloney/ As for who ran this country’s economy into the ground…..http://articles.cnn.com/2011-08-19/opinion/franken.rating.reform_1_jeffrey-manns-credit-rating-rating-agencies?_s=PM%3AOPINION

    Wake up conservatives!!!

  • Anyone who thinks the Gop/Dem dichotomy is real is an idiot!

Let me inform all of you how it works. Companies lobby politicians and make “campaign contributions,” note they, politicians, dont even need to be running for office to receive the contributions, to purchase votes. Its then up to that person to sell the idea to the general population. Also note that foreign companies with local interest can lobby politicians. This is the inescapable binding factor. This is why when campaigning politicians give speeches riddled with trigger words and sensational language then, when it comes time to deal with the issues they change the song and further the display of theatrics. Have fun with your show lemmings!

I reject the systems of control!

    Ron Paul 2012!

  • Paul (first commenter) demonstrates the essence of why uneducated idiots vote Republican: he apparently believes that “no one has ever shown anyone in the U.S.A. that has ever been denied healthcare.” ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?! I am rendered speechless by the ignorance of this statement. Paul, I hope you lose your job and your employer-paid healthcare. Then maybe you’ll be forced to pull your head out of your ass for five seconds.

    • Sorry – Paul was the *last* commenter.

    • Hahahahaha, Paul probably makes $20K a year and believes he’s the next millionaire to be. He has no healthcare (his Walmart employer won’t pay for it) and he uses the hospital emergency room to treat the common cold. His parents are completely dependent on Social Security and Medicare and this jacka@# votes for Tea Party candidates. God Bless America.

      • This is where card carrying democrats insult others who don’t think they way they do. Democrats don’t care for NOK’s because, well, they aren’t their kind.

Hospitals in the US lose billions each year to unisured patients who can’t pay. I suppose that’s because they’re turning those patients away and not treating them?

        • names are for losers

Actually, they lose so much money because they are required (correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe even this varies state by state) to provide emergency treatment which is generally much more expensive than the routine visits (which you basically have to pay for up front) that makes most emergency visits unnecessary. It would actually be much cheaper (not to mention healthier!) on the whole to simply grantee prophylactic care to all instead of just the expensive and unhealthy “we’ll treat you if you’re bleeding to death and see if you can pay later” kind of care.

          • Please, let’s not leave out those who have insurance, who use the emergency rooms because the insurance will pay, thus saving the out of pocket expenses routine preventative care would cause them.

  • The first difference is that Democrats fear that government doesn’t have enough control over businesses or the general public.

The second difference is Democrats believe that taking money from people, that deem to be “too rich”, by gunpoint, is the only way to help “the poor”.

The third difference is that Republican believe in capitalism. What you said about the Democrats is true.

The fourth difference is Democrats believe it’s a “right” to health care. Republicans believe that every can get healthcare, and we do. No one has ever shown anyone in the U.S.A. that has ever been denied healthcare.

The Democrats have yet to do anything during this recession to help the American public. Billions of dollars in debt and deficit spending, and things are only getting worse. Higher unemployment, higher foreclosure rates, tumbling home prices, rising fuel prices.

Democrats believe government can “create” jobs out of thin air. Republican know that jobs are created as the need for them arises.

Democrats believe anyone that makes more money than they do is “an evil rich person” and must be taxed at 100% of what they make. After all, the rich person must have stolen the money from the poor person.

Just a few of the things this writer has wrong.

    • you sound like a douche.

      • It sounded like a reasonable answer, followed by name calling, typical answer and why as a business owner, I prefer to hire libertarians.

      • sounds more like a troll actually

        • No Paul, you’re wrong:

“The first difference is that Democrats fear that government doesn’t have enough control over businesses or the general public.” – No, only big business, you know… the ones who truly control this country. Of the people, for the people, and by the people is currently a joke.

“The second difference is Democrats believe that taking money from people, that deem to be “too rich”, by gunpoint, is the only way to help “the poor”.” Wrong! No one is “too rich”, BUT there are too many, including corporations, that are “too immune to fair taxation”, thanks to countless loopholes THAT THEY DESIGNED, thanks to our corrupt lobby system. GUNPOINT? Please!!

“The third difference is that Republican believe in capitalism. What you said about the Democrats is true.” Hey, everybody believes in capitalism. Just not the run-amok brand of Wall Street crime sprees that got us into this economic shit hole in the first place, UNDER THE REPUBLICANS WATCH, NOT THE DEMOCRATS.

“The fourth difference is Democrats believe it’s a “right” to health care. Republicans believe that every[one] can get healthcare, and we do. No one has ever shown anyone in the U.S.A. that has ever been denied healthcare.” What rock have you been living under? There are millions of people who have either been denied or priced out of health care, again, thanks to the current corrupt system, controlled by the insurance and pharm lobbies. Open your eyes!

“The Democrats have yet to do anything during this recession to help the American public. Billions of dollars in debt and deficit spending, and things are only getting worse. Higher unemployment, higher foreclosure rates, tumbling home prices, rising fuel prices.” Either you are Sean Hannity or you listen to him too much. Actually things are (much too) slowly getting better. No thanks to Republican “if-Obama’s-for it-I’m-against-it” obstructionism. The Repubs are more interested in 2012 victory than actually helping the country. Again, the Repubs started this mess, with two wars, de-regulation etc.

“Democrats believe government can “create” jobs out of thin air. Republican know that jobs are created as the need for them arises.” HELLLOOOO! The need for jobs is here! Now! We can and will create jobs, not out of thin air, but with reinvestment into OUR OWN COUNTRY, through small business and infrastructure, and not China, India, Iraq, Afghanistan, or the offshore bank accounts of American CEO’s.

“Democrats believe anyone that makes more money than they do is “an evil rich person” and must be taxed at 100% of what they make. After all, the rich person must have stolen the money from the poor person.” That’s just Michael Savage horse shit and doesn’t even warrant a rebuttal.

Wake up Paul! This guy said it best:

    • You’re so right Paul, because the wealthiest Americans and corporations have had their taxes raised at “gun point!” That’s why 12 years later the Bush administration tax cuts for the wealthy are still in place. Oddly enough you’re rah rah sis boom bah of capitalism has produced absolutely nothing! Certainly no job creation in The United States with those tax breaks. I guess India gets to enjoy the employment:)Were you serious about this statement, “No one has ever shown anyone in the U.S.A. that has ever been denied healthcare.”? Really? Wow that’s incredible. I think you need to check your facts regarding who created the huge deficit spending. What has Congress done? Where’s their big plan? Still waiting *tick tock* They sure have the bitch and moan meter jacked up to an all time high. They have perfected the blame game. Like Bill Maher pointed out….under Bush everyone in the GOP was drunk at the party and buying all the rounds. Now everyone has sobered up and the GOP is like, “what? who spent all the money?” Get your facts straight!!!!

    • Ways in which Paul has of course screwed the pooch by missing the entire point (of course with him being totally indoctrinated by the sulky southern ayn randian CON Troll lobby who can blame him):

      Idiotic statement #
1)”first difference is that Democrats fear that government doesn’t have enough control over businesses”
Seeing as how BP is getting away with shitting all over the Gulf of Mexico, GE is getting away with paying no taxes, stock trading companies are getting away with risking our money on ridiculous betting schemes (see I thought capitalism was about investing in businesses, not seeing if the housing market will crash again). What nutjob thinks that government has too much control over corporations? And that whole general public thing is a holdover from anti communist paranoia from the 50’s. As in “How dare the government force me to serve that commie Martin Luther King Jr. at my diner!” Or if you’re talking privacy invasion thank your good ol boy Georgy for that.

2)”Democrats believe that taking money from people, that deem to be “too rich”, by gunpoint, is the only way to help “the poor””
Love how you put quotes over rich & poor. Like they’re just playacting or something. Or there wasn’t this whole economic collapse everyone has to deal with cause finance corporations went amok. Also love the “gunpoint” imagery. Like we’re robbing these poor defenseless CEO’s of their hard earned cash. A striking Verizon worker made a good point: “How the hell did we get into a world where workers making $60,000 are overpaid but CEOs making millions are overtaxed?”
3)”Republican believe in capitalism. What you said about the Democrats is true.”
No they don’t. Corporations controlling more than %60 of the market IS NOT capitalism. It’s monopoly. And when Republicans continuously defend merger after merger, how can you say they protect the free market?
4)”No one has ever shown anyone in the U.S.A. that has ever been denied healthcare.”
Oh my God , that is so moronic I don’t know where to begin. Hmmmm let’s see. Try looking up that story of that 17 year old girl who died, cause her insurance company denied her payment for surgery. And that’s just one example1 Hell entire movies have been based on those real life examples. John Grisham’s The Rainmaker, John Q, etc. The true “Death Panels” are in the boardrooms of these companies.
5)”The Democrats have yet to do anything during this recession to help the American public. Billions of dollars in debt and deficit spending, and things are only getting worse. Higher unemployment, higher foreclosure rates, tumbling home prices, rising fuel prices”
Gee maybe cause most of the money spent was on trying to stabilize the mess the last idiot left behind. Or that the wars were finally put on the books. Or that whenever the Congress actually tries to do something the Republicans hold the whole thing hostage?
6)”Democrats believe government can “create” jobs out of thin air. Republican know that jobs are created as the need for them arises”
So public sector jobs just don’t exist in your world? Or they don’t count since it’s paid through taxes? Making all those firemen, teachers, and construction workers leeches in your mind? You’re blind blind delusional mind. It’s not like these workers take their hard earned pay and go to supermarkets is it? Or car dealerships? Or electronics stores? Or go on vacation? Etc. etc. It’s not like their money goes out into the economy. Oh no of course not.
7)”Democrats believe anyone that makes more money than they do is “an evil rich person” and must be taxed at 100% of what they make. After all, the rich person must have stolen the money from the poor person.”
Way to go with the hyperbole! Just make a broad insane generalization and apply it to everyone who disagrees with you. I’m hesitant to bash this too much. Seeing as it might be meant as a joke. But then this is the sort of nutty thing many reactionary Republicans believe.

      • If you remove 90% of all the capital from the economic system of our society and place it in long term investment that has zero income, but accumulates wealth, that means 90 % of all tax on savings income vanishes.
If you need to live in a nursing home for four years at a high level of care, that costs one million dollars. You can not protect any of that savings or equity for 5 years prior to entering that nursing home.
If you lend a parent money to pay their medical bills, you must get it back before that five years begins no matter how well it is documented .
Yes our economic system is broken when it comes to health care.

    • “Democrats believe anyone that makes more money than they do is “an evil rich person” and must be taxed at 100% of what they make. After all, the rich person must have stolen the money from the poor person.” – Democrats do not believe this… They don’t want to tax rich people at 100% of what they make… They believe that the rich person should pay their share, just like all of us poor people. It’s not fair that rich people can make so much money and keep all of it and poor people make nowhere near even 10% of what the rich people make and they have to pay an average of 30% of their income in taxes.

“The Democrats have yet to do anything during this recession to help the American public. Billions of dollars in debt and deficit spending, and things are only getting worse. Higher unemployment, higher foreclosure rates, tumbling home prices, rising fuel prices.” – The only reason the economy hasn’t gotten any better is because the republicans who were voted into Congress don’t want to work with the existing serving democrats. Obama statistically improved the economy in his first 2 years and then was shutdown his 2nd 2 years after the interim election.

“Democrats believe government can “create” jobs out of thin air. Republican know that jobs are created as the need for them arises.” – If this is true, why haven’t jobs been created in the past 2 years? They are desparately needed. You have to aggressively create jobs for them to become existent. It is NOT a passive process…

    • Paul, I have been denied health care. Not because I couldn’t pay, but because I have pre-existing conditions.

When I finally found a company that did not completely deny me coverage, they took me on the conditions that 1) I pay a lot more for less coverage than most people have, and 2) my pre-existing condition is not covered in any way.

Don’t make things up and call them facts just because you don’t know better.

      • Insurance companies do not provide health care. They provide payment based on you meeting specific criteria, all of which are available for you to read before you commit to them.

    • Hi, Paul.

I’d like you to meet me.

I’m an American, disabled at that, who has been denied healthcare.

It would be possible to completely cure my disability. It would take approximately $250,000 to $750,000 depending upon the length of the treatment.

Only, because of Medicare rules, they cannot pay for the treatment.

Thus I am denied the ability to work (Before the accident that disabled me, I was worth well over 2.5 million dollars. Every dime of that went to keeping me alive). Odds are likely, were I able to work consistently again that I would make every bit of what I lost back (and thus repay the cost of what was required to heal me).

But… That isn’t happening at the moment, even with our current administration and the update to our health rules.

So, you are completely deluded to think that no one in the USA has been denied healthcare.

I’ve got to watch people die. Very healthy people who contracted an illness and then died because they were not able to get the healthcare that would have kept them alive.

At some point, there will be a person like myself (who is highly educated with the knowledge and wherewithall) who will get tired of the situation, and they may turn that anger outward in a way that would make Timothy McVeigh and the 9/11 Hijackers look like petty criminals.

Would it be worth it to deny care to people on the off chance that someone with access to a research reactor found himself falling through a crack in the system, and then used that access to build a nuclear weapon?

We are getting to the point in society where that is a possibility.

I would rather pay the taxes that purchase a civilized society that risk the breakdown of that civilization.

      • Matthew,

I must admit your story sounds made up. If you truly were worth 2.5 million and didn’t have a great insurance policy, whose fault was it? Mine? The governments?

As far as you claiming to be educated enough and have the wherewithall to turn the anger outward, I truly feel that if IQ was dynamite, you wouldn’t have enough to blow your nose.

And finally, if it isn’t a nuclear reactor, then what about a biological threat, or contamination of the water supply, or any of a thousand different ways to make human’s lives miserable.

You really didn’t think this through too well as you were making it all up, huh?

What you suggest is that we should make healthcare available on the sole reason that if we don’t it might upset some whacko. OK< now what if we don't make front row seats to the Super Bowl available to everyone, what then? Or what if we don't make owning a Lexus LS460 available to everyone, what then?

People die everyday. Not everyone will be able to get the care they need to draw another breath. People are born everyday, too. If you want to stop the dyin, first you have to stop the birthin…

        • Yes, there are plenty of people who cannot get health care in this country. Physicians will not see them in their offices if the person cannot pay, so the person goes to the emergency room for a sore throat because the E.R. HAS to see you by law. That drives up health care costs. I personally know people who were turned away from further treatment at an E.R. once their child (yes, a child) was stable, but not fully taken care of. I was denied prescription coverage because of asthma and spent 3 years literally begging my doctor’s office for free samples of my medications and filling out a bunch of forms every 3 months for patient assistance. I was lucky in that I later found a job that provides coverage for prescriptions. Sir, people in this nation ARE suffering and dying because they cannot afford coverage or can’t buy it at any price.

    • Paul, a friend of mine died last winter from pneumonia. He was 29 and in great shape. He couldn’t afford health insurance because he was trying to start a small business and was just starting to turn it around and make a little bit of money. He got a cold that turned into bronchitis and so he closed up shop and tried to sleep it off for a few days. Died in bed. There are lots more like him.

Don’t argue about things you don’t know about.

    • I had a student who’s father was self employed and could not afford health insurance. He put off treatment of his “back ache” for three years. When he finally couldn’t stand the pain anymore he went to the doctor. He lived another 6 weeks after the cancer diagnosis. he left an widow (now unemployed as she worked with him) and a teenage son. If he had gone in earlier, he might have survived, but bankrupted the business and his family in the process. Republicans care for money, not people

  • Somewhat funny. It’s sad that’s how many people see Republicans.

    • It is sad that this is how people see Republicans.

What is even sadder is that Republicans actually behave and make statements to that effect.

Republicans seem to have forgotten that they live in a Union that is supposed to be a Civil Society.

Civil Societies do not have populations that neglect their civic duties to others in that society.

  • It looks good in writing but those Democratic ideals rarely get implemented. I wonder why…

  • I really appreciate someone taking the time to put on paper these 15 differences. I’m sure there are people who would disagree with some or all of the 15. I agree that these 15 differences are real.

  • Democrats are pro-life for serial killers, but “chose” whether or not embryos can live.

    • Funny. I don’t believe in the death penalty because I think rotting in prison is a WORSE punishment than just killing them would be. You wimpy-ass conservatives would just end their misery. That’s not justice.

Plus, in the case of a wrongful conviction, WE still have a chance of letting them back out. You try resurrecting the innocent. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

    • Embryos aren’t alive. They are essentially parasites in a woman’s body and would not survive outside the womb. Until an embryo can survive outside of the womb, it cannot be considered a human being.

  • You hit the nail on the head!!!!!

  • One correction needed: “Republicans believe that Congress should do nothing to create jobs and then blame the President” is only true when the president is a Democrat. When the president is a Republican, Republicans believe that Congress should do nothing to create jobs and then blame the Democrats.

  • Republicans are pro-life, until you’re born. Democrats are pro-life during your life.

  • The main difference is this: Outside of New England, Democrats are career politicians mainly because they have no qualifications – or competence – to do anything else. They start out running for dog catcher, then city councilman then mayor then move up the ladder and they think that they are entitled to it. And they say and do whatever it takes to get elected, because they are not capable of doing anything else.
Republicans, on the other hand, for the most part, have other options, and only enter into politics as a second career, usually when they see that things are just not going in the right direction (case in point: Sonny Bono.)

“Democrats believe that too much money in politics produces corruption and destroys the American way of life. Republicans believe that money and corruption in politics are the American way of life.”
Obama is said to have $1 billion dollars for his re-election. But somehow THAT is not too much money for a Democrat to have.

“Democrats believe that the rich should be taxed more than the poor and middle class. Republicans believe that the rich should be allowed to keep all their wealth, except for the millions in campaign contributions they give to politicians.”
Democrats politicians ARE rich. The rich (especially the Democrat rich) do not pay taxes. They have their wealth in trusts and foundations and invest in TAX-FREE munis. The Democrat politicians have no interest in taxing “the rich”, because THEY ARE the rich (Kennedys, Jay Rockefeller, Charley “I couldn’t understand the tax code that I wrote because it is too confusing” Rangel, John Heinz-Kerry, who served in Vietnam, Nancy “give me a private jet ‘Pelosi, Barack “Hey, I wrote two books” Obama, Bill and Hillary “look how much money I made last year” Clinton , etc..) they only want to tax HIGH INCOME EARNERS, in order to PREVENT them from becoming rich and joining their exclusive club.

The “Corporation” was created during the Age of Exploration to protect investors from criminal liability. In other words, corporations exist to protect individuals from the abuses of government. Every condo association is a corporation. Liberals however believe in the ABSOLUTE UNQUESTIONED AND TOTAL POWER of the government, and they believe that NO PROTECTION from the ALMIGHTY government should be allowed. THAT is the reason that Democrats hate corporations.

    • Wow, do you always make stuff up?

Because you are so wrong all the way up and down, it is hard to believe that you could really be this confused.

I could go through your post and do a point-by-point refutation of all that wrong, but why bother? Anyone who can see the truth knows already that you are wrong. And anyone confused enough to believe you will be unswayed by the truth.

I will say this, however. I am in Oklahoma. James Inhofe is one of our Senators. He is a Republican. He got into politics because every single business he was ever associated with was a failure. He has even been sued repeatedly by family members for running family businesses into the ground. So your “Republicans have options” nonsense is clearly just that: nonsense.

      Like everything else you wrote.

      • George W Bush also was a failure in each and every business into which he was invited, due to his connections. Not to mention his grades at Yale.

      • ignorancebreedssheep

There is corruption throughout both the parties. Corporations are not necessarily to blame, for they are only taking advantage of an opportunity to better their standing. The government must not allow corporate lobbyists to interfere in government by limiting/ eliminating campaign contributions. Obama made promises he cannot keep for 2 reasons. 1)The do-nothing congress, which btw is composed of both dems and reps. 2)The corporations and lobbyists who contributed to his campaign before he started bought his services. For a government “of the people, by the people and for the people”, THE PEOPLE must take back the power from the corporations by voting in officials who will do what they say, and impeaching them if they don’t. Bickering will NOT solve the problems of the government and neither side is without fault.
Last thought: The US will not be great again internationally until we take care of our people here. Tax companies who move jobs overseas, and cut funding of programs that are weighing down the system. We all know Social Security is going to fail…nix that, has failed; so pull the plug already.
“People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people”

    • Sonny Bono became a politician to change laws to increase his royalties. What matters is who makes the contributions and what they want. Of course corporations favor Republicans because they know they’ll vote in their favor. Corporations have no conscience. An example is the former vice-president of Goldman-Sachs working for Issa under an assumed named to lighten restrictions on G-S and other corporations. Why isn’t he being called out? No one said Democratic politicians aren’t rich. The point is what these rich politicians do about the burden on the poor – and for Republicans, that’s ADD MORE BURDEN. And you’re ridiculous if you don’t believe that liberals aren’t the ones who’ve called out the government over its injustices far more than the Republicans, who only seem to do it when they smell a tax-hike.

    • High income earners pay less taxes than the middle class. You must be the former.

    • Sonny
Bono became a politician to change laws to increase his royalties.
What matters is who makes the contributions and what they want. Of

  • Democrats believe in the First Amendment. Republicans believe whoever talks louder overides the first amendment.

    • Democrats only believe in the First Amendment until it harms them. Then they will say that what anyone who disagrees with them is “Hate Speech”.

Democrats only believe that free speech applies to them. No Democrat will defend a Republican’s freedom of speech.

      • Generalizations like that only make people sound stupid. I’m sorry, but it’s true. No one person is just like another, so saying “this huge general group of people will always think this way” is just irrational. I am a democrat and I would defend any person’s freedom of speech, no matter the opinion. I will share my own thoughts, but NEVER deny anyone their own. In fact I have felt that your argument would apply to far more republicans than democrats that I have personally spoken to.

      • On the contrary, Paul. Democrats will defend Republicans’ freedom of speech with our dying breath – because the most effective way to make a right-winger look like a complete idiot is simply to let him talk.

  • Great List…right on the Money…So True…( ;
