Michele Bachmann Thinks 9/11 And Benghazi Terrorist Attacks Are Judgments From God (VIDEO)

Witch Hunter Michele Bachmann

On September 11, 2001 two planes hit the World Trade Center and one hit the Pentagon in the worst terrorist attack in American history. 3,000 people died in the attacks and the terrorist organization known as al-Qaeda took responsibility for the mass carnage. The attacks were perpetrated in the name of Islamic extremism and Republicans used the attacks as a political tool for years. Eleven years later on the same day, terrorists attacked and killed the American ambassador to Libya and three other Americans in Benghazi. Since that attack, Republicans have attempted to brand it as the worst scandal ever and have failed. But that isn’t stopping them from continuing to talk about it.

Enter Michele Bachmann. During a prayer event held at the Capitol in Washington DC, Bachmann claimed that the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the Benghazi attack were judgments by God as a way to punish America. According to Right Wing Watch, Bachmann attended the event with “religious right activists and members of Congress” on Wednesday.

“It’s no secret that our nation may very well be experiencing the hand of judgment,” Bachmann said during her speech in support of a right-wing ’9/11 Pray’ Day organized by birther Joseph Farah.

“It’s no secret that we all are concerned that our nation may be in a time of decline. If that is in fact so, what is the answer? The answer is what we are doing here today: humbling ourselves before an almighty God, crying out to an almighty God, saying not of ourselves but You, would you save us, oh God? We repent of our sins, we turn away from them, we seek you, we seek your ways. That’s something that we’re doing today, that we did on the National Day of Prayer, it’s something that we have chosen to do as well on another landmark day later this year on September 11. Our nation has seen judgment not once but twice on September 11. That’s why we’re going to have ‘9/11 Pray’ on that day. Is there anything better that we can do on that day rather than to humble ourselves and to pray to an almighty God?”

Here’s the video:

So according to Bachmann, God punished America by allowing Islamic extremists to mass murder 3,000 Americans in the name of Allah, whom the Christian right claims is an enemy of God? Is anyone still following this logic? And then the only way to prevent such punishments in the future is to follow God’s ways according to what, I’m assuming, is what the Christian right tells us those ways are? This is incredibly insane and once again begs the question: How in the world is Bachmann a member of Congress?

For any member of Congress to use terrorist attacks to advance their crazy religious views is totally outrageous and insulting to those who were killed in the attacks. This is the kind of religious fervor that has been plaguing America for decades and it’s not only rotting our souls, it’s rotting our brains too. Look no further than Michele Bachmann to find evidence of that. She is by far the craziest member of Congress and, thankfully, she is not a Democrat. But if she were, she would never have been elected to office in the first place.

  • Curious. The Christian conservatives’ perception of God appears to be one of an ego-centric, malevolent, vindictive, micro-managing sadist — somewhat akin to how many of them treat their wives.

Yet another reason why religious dogma and public policy make poor bedfellows.

  • Bachmann is elected from a suburban district by people who work in Minneapolis-St. Paul. There is a huge cultural contrast. Bachmann’s suburb is almost all white while the Twin Cities are 20% black. Minneapolis elected Keith Ellison, the Moslem congressman.

So her suburb seems to elect Bachmann to be the antithesis of Ellison.

Michelle Bachmann is delusional. It’s time for a serious intervention.

  • Do we really need any more example of the complete and utter religious hypocrisy inherent in the Far Right?

See to the beam in your own eye Mrs. Bachmann.

  • Be gone, Bachmann!
