Cry Me A River: Fox News’ Roger Ailes Upset By Legitimate Investigation Into Leaks

AilesFNC

There was once a news network born from the need to fight for TRUE American values. This organization is what some would call the white knight (Emphasis on “White” – ed.) in the fight against the tyrannical, evil Obama Administration. A news station that is the most fair and balanced of all of the cable news networks; a place that every gun loving, Jesus worshipping, REAL American can go to find solace in the dark, bleak, liberally biased world. They are the bright light of cable news. The network the right-wing, tin foil hat brigade trusts to bring the truth and break all of the most important scandals. Oh yes, they are the ones the broke the Benghazi scandal, the birth certificate scandal, Umbrellagate; all of the things that would’ve surely been ignored by that dreadful ‘mainstream media.’

This is the news station that demanded a traitorous U.S. soldier be executed for leaking secrets to Wikileaks and exposing the Bush Administration’s lies putting countless lives in jeopardy. Now the Obama Administration is threatening to silence this upstanding news station! Roger Ailes, the chief of Fox News says that the administration is using McCarthy-like tactics to intimidate the only station that is reporting what is true and right.

That description is how Fox News would like the world to view them but it is total bullsh*t. I had a hard time forcing that out even in a satirical way. The memo which Roger Ailes out to the Fox News staff just serves to highlight this:

Dear colleagues,

The recent news about the FBI’s seizure of the phone and email records of Fox News employees, including James Rosen, calls into question whether the federal government is meeting its constitutional obligation to preserve and protect a free press in the United States. We reject the government’s efforts to criminalize the pursuit of investigative journalism and falsely characterize a Fox News reporter to a Federal judge as a “co-conspirator” in a crime. I know how concerned you are because so many of you have asked me: why should the government make me afraid to use a work phone or email account to gather news or even call a friend or family member? Well, they shouldn’t have done it. The administration’s attempt to intimidate Fox News and its employees will not succeed and their excuses will stand neither the test of law, the test of decency, nor the test of time. We will not allow a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era, to frighten any of us away from the truth.

First of all, the FBI did in fact seize James Rosen’s email and phone records; they also tracked his movements by checking the government’s own records of his ID badge use. They did this because of an article written by Rosen that leaked national security information (ironic that Fox News is guilty of that, but we’ll get to why in a moment). The seizure of his phone records was done with a warrant and as much as Fox wants to try to compare it to the AP investigation, it’s not the same. The government obtained his records the ‘right’ way. Should they have called Rosen a ‘co-conspirator’ to get the warrants? Perhaps not, but a scandal that does not make. Furthermore, the only reason his parent’s phone records came into play was because there was a call placed from the government informant to his parent’s house. So it is not as if the U.S. government was targeting a Fox News’ employee’s family.

Ailes then goes on to claim that the Obama Administration is trying to frighten Fox News and they are using McCarthy-like tactics to do so. Let me take a moment to laugh……….okay I’m done now. Fox is seriously going to run out of bad guys to compare Obama to. Did the Hitler comparisons get boring? His administration is not out to get Fox News, they were investigating a security leak that put people in jeopardy in North Korea. Sort of the way Bradley Manning was investigated for a security leak, remember that? The irony is that Bill O’Reilly and Fox News were quick to label Manning a traitor; O’Reilly even went as far as to suggest that he should be executed or put in jail for life. I’m waiting for him to suggest that his colleague be executed but I probably shouldn’t hold my breath. The rest of Ailes’ memo was just as entertaining as the beginning.

I am proud of your tireless effort to report the news over the last 17 years. I stand with you; I support you and I thank you for your reporting with courageous optimism. Too many Americans fought and died to protect our unique American right of press freedom. We can’t and we won’t forget that. To be an American journalist is not only a great responsibility, but also a great honor. To be a Fox journalist is a high honor, not a high crime. Even this memo of support will cause some to demonize us and try to find irrelevant things to cause us to waver. We will not waver.

As Fox News employees, we sometimes are forced to stand alone, but even then when we know we are reporting what is true and what is right, we stand proud and fearless. Thank you for your hard work and all your efforts.

Sincerely,

Roger Ailes

I think that calling Fox News employees ‘journalists’ is a bit of a leap, considering all of the lying they do. Also, saying that they are reporting ‘what is true and right’ is another line of crap. Fox News does not report news; they relay fantasies to an audience of lazy Americans. I call them lazy because they do not take the time to research anything that they hear on this channel; they take it at face value and run with it. The intention of the fantasies they weave is to discredit the left in general and Obama in specific. They will use any means to do so, which is why the last few weeks seem to be rife with ‘Obama Scandals.’ Fox News exists as the propaganda machine for the Republican Party, and that is all they are. Honestly, there is more truth-telling done on the Sci-Fi channel than Fox News.

Roger Ailes sent this memo out with the intention to paint Fox News in a light that makes them look like they are the victims. This is a common practice on the right, and there is a perfectly good reason why they do that…….control. You see, the easiest way to control a group of people is through fear. The right has been using fear to control people for years. This is why so many people hate Muslims, immigrants, non-whites, etc. Fox News is especially good at spreading fear: fear that Obama is going to take away their guns; fear that they will lose their rights; fear that America’s demographics are changing. Fear, fear, fear and lies, lies, lies.

Fox lies ALL THE TIME. They lie because by doing so, and doing it in such an elaborate, passionate way, people really believe them. Fox News has consistently been proven to have the least informed viewers and that is their intention. By creating a group of uninformed people they are controlling them. The Republican Party LOVES this because uninformed means these people are more likely to believe the tales they weave and vote in their favor. Keeping a group of people uneducated is the best way to ensure that you will succeed in your quest to control. That is why women were denied education. That’s also why slaves were denied an education. Uneducated people are the least likely to rise up and rebel. The Republican power needs this control because they need a group of mindless zombies that do not dig too deeply at the polls, that’s the only way they will win.

So that is why Ailes sent out this memo, and sadly it’ll work and appeal to their base. Republican voters are going to read that memo and proclaim that Obama is trying to take freedom away from the press. Suddenly he isn’t just trying to take away their guns, now he is trying to take away their news network. The only network that is ‘fair and balanced,’ mind you. This will lead from a McCarthy comparison to a Chavez or Castro comparison. In a week or so the U.S. will be turning into a Communist state and Republicans will have furthered their agenda. The only way to stop this dumbing down of America is to continue to do what we, as Liberals, do use facts and debunk their lies. And the “liberal media” really needs to stop salivating at the opportunity to get rating by fueling the flames of the right’s lies. They are supposed to be the people we count on to destroy the right-wing’s smoke and mirrors but they seem to be jumping on the ratings bandwagon and that is very upsetting.
