Members of the Republican party hate to be called racists, it really pisses them off. The number of times I’ve been told that liberals are the ones obsessed with using the ‘race card’ is too many to count. And the most fun part is when they twist it around so we’re somehow the racists because we have the audacity to point out their ignorance. As a matter of fact, just last week I was in a debate with a right-winger who said I voted for President Obama because I wanted to be a ‘cool cat’ and vote for the ‘black guy’ because I have a tremendous amount of ‘white guilt because slavery happened once in the south 5000 years ago.’ Of course, when I pointed out the unadulterated ignorance and bigotry of this racist attack, I was the racist.

Republicans are also quite fond of rewriting history and claiming that Democrats are the ones who sought to deny black people their civil rights. Yep, the Republican party is not racist at all!! Except… they are. Not all members of course, but the party itself is absolutely rooted in racism, and one of their favorite campaign strategies is to pander to their racist, gun-loving base with idiotic statements. You know, Obama won because he’s black, Mexicans are trying to take over America, entitlements need to be cut because of all of the minority welfare queens, etc. Usually the vitriolic attacks are aimed at Democratic supporters and candidates, but a GOP chairman in Illinois decided to attack one of their very own with lots of racism and a splash of misogyny just to top it off.

Illinois GOP county Chairman, Jim Allen, fired off an email to Editor-in-Chief, Doug Ibendahl, of Republican News Watch, in response to a column written by him announcing Erika Harold’s campaign kickoff, Illinois Republicans Finally Get Some Good News. I’ll just let his email speak for itself:

Original Message From: Jim Allen <[email protected]> Sent: 06/18/13 10:59 PM To: [email protected] Subject: 13th Congressional District reply - Rodney Davis will win and the love child of the D.N.C. will be back in Shitcago by May of 2014 working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires. The truth is Nancy Pelosi and the DEMOCRAT party want this seat. So they called RINO Timmy Johnson to be their pack mule and get little queen to run. Ann Callis gets a free ride through a primary and Rodney Davis has a battle. The little queen touts her abstinence and she won the crown because she got bullied in school,,,boohoo..kids are cruel, life sucks and you move on..Now, miss queen is being used like a street walker and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS…These pimps want something they can’t get,,, the seat held by a conservative REPUBLICAN  Rodney Davis and Nancy Pelosi can’t stand it.. Little Queenie and Nancy Pelosi have so much in common but the one thing that stands out the most.. both are FORMER QUEENS, their crowns are tarnished and time has run out on the both of them.

That’s right; he compared a Harvard-educated lawyer and former Miss America to a street-walker. Real classy. Oh, and let’s not forget that the only reason a law firm would hire her is to fill their ‘minority quota.’ Surely it has nothing to do with her Ivy League education. He also found reason to attack her Miss America platform, which was abstinence and school bullying. Because it’s wrong for a Republican to have a history of supporting one of the party’s beloved programs: abstinence? I could understand why a Republican, the party of bullies, would take issue with ridding schools of little future party members but abstinence, really?!

The Editor-in-chief of Republican News Watch did not find Allen’s statement the last bit amusing and published it, with a response, on their website:

“Outrageous comments like those of Jim Allen are why we as Republicans fail to gain any respect from minority voters. If officials in my party (the Republican Party) fail to understand how destructive it is to attack an impressive person like Erika Harold merely because she dares to challenge the good-old-boys, the GOP will remain a losing party for decades. This stay-in-the-back-of-the-bus mentality destroys any hope the Republican Party has for regaining momentum in future elections.”

The party would do well to listen to those very wise words. This is exactly the type of mentality destroying the party. This is exactly the same mentality that lost them the White House in 2008 and 2012. Attacking women and minorities is folly if they ever want to win another election again. The face of America is changing and they need those votes.

Rodney Davis, the candidate running against Harold, immediately distanced himself from Allen and issued a statement condemning him. He also took Allen’s name of his webpage as one of his supporters. Smart move.

Allen, meanwhile, issued the requisite apology. That’s another thing the Republican is known for: opening their mouths, inserting their foot, then expecting to be forgiven after their generic apology. They don’t realize the damage is done as soon as they express their opinion. (Of course they do, their message is heard loud and clear by their racist base. They just “apologize” to curtail outrage from the rest of the country – ed)

Maybe Erika Harold should switch teams. The Republican party is not a welcoming place for women. She wouldn’t be hired at a law firm to meet a minority quota but I always get the feeling that the only reason the Republican Party welcomes a woman into their ranks is to boost their public image.

I don’t have a problem if all the Jim Allens of the GOP continue declaring their hate for everyone who’s not a rich, white male because that means we’ll keep winning. YIPPIE!

  • For all of the talk I see regarding elections and Republicans, they continue to clean up in Congress in every election except one since the 90′s. When they have weak presidential candidates they lose that vote, but MANY Americans still vote for them in Congress and the Senate. What does this say about America? Is it full of racists and homophobic “christians” to vote that way? It sure looks that way to the rest of the world.

  • why try to save a neanderthal? they should be extinct.

  • I guess that makes us all racists for us noticing his racist…’excuse me’ ….non-racist comments.
