On Thursday afternoon an Illinois GOP official resigned after his party shunned him for his misogynistic and racist attack against Erika Harold, a Republican candidate for Congress. Tim Allen, the Montgomery County GOP Chairman, likened Harold to a street-walker and claimed she’d only get a job from a law firm looking to fill their minority quota. His party was outraged and claimed his comments have no place in society or the Republican Party. Illinois Republican Party Chairman, Jack Dorgan, released the following statement Thursday afternoon:
“Today, I accepted the resignation of Jim Allen as Montgomery County [Republican Party] Chairman. These types of offensive and inappropriate remarks have no place in our Republican Party.” [SOURCE]
Dorgan wasn’t the only official in the Republican Party that was disgusted with Allen’s comments, nope, even Republican National Committee Chairman (RNC) Reince Priebus, weighed in:
“Chairman Allen’s astonishingly offensive views have no place in politics. He should apologize & resign immediately.” [SOURCE]
Yep, everyone was just astonished that Allen had the audacity to make such an offensive statement. Why in the world would he think that it was okay to exhibit such bigotry and hate? Especially when the Republican Party is trying so hard to reach out to minorities across the country as part of their new ‘we don’t only like white people‘ image? Maybe, because of the following:
- The Conservative Heritage Foundation recently released a report about the cost of immigration reform. The co-author of the report, Dr. Jason Richwine, wrote a dissertation,”IQ and Immigration Policy,” in 2009 that claims Hispanics are genetically dumber than whites.
“No one knows whether Hispanics will ever reach IQ parity with whites, but the prediction that new Hispanic immigrants will have low-IQ children and grandchildren is difficult to argue against.” [SOURCE]
- Republican Georgia Governor, Nathan Deal, refused to support a call for an integrated prom in his state because he thought it was a publicity stunt by the left. Yes, Democrats are guilty of a publicity stunt for supporting integration in 2013.
- In April, Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert made a statement about Islamic Extremists passing themselves off as Mexican with ease because you know, all brown-skinned people look-alike.
“We know al Qaeda has camps over with the drug cartels on the other side of the Mexican border. We know that people are now being trained to come in and act like Hispanic [sic] when they’re radical Islamists.” [SOURCE]
- Don Young, Rep. (R-Alaska) referred to Hispanics as ‘wetbacks’ this year.
“My father had a ranch. We used to hire 50 or 60 wetbacks to pick tomatoes.” [SOURCE]
These are just a few examples, if I took the time to also get into Fox News and other Republican outlets or supporters, we’d be here all day. The point, however, is that none of these people were forced to resign for their comments. The Representative from Alaska, for instance, was reprimanded by the Repubs but he was not asked to resign and he is a big fish, a lawmaker. Racism in the Republican party is deeply rooted and minorities are not stupid, they know that the party really doesn’t want to change, they just want votes. How can we prove this? Well, the people responsible for the comments just listed are still around. Even Republican Colin Powell has expressed that his party has a dark vein of racism.
You see, the Republican Party made a big show of disgust over Allen’s comments but he is just a tiny fish in a big sea of Republican bigotry. His comments were as misogynistic as they were racist and if there is one thing Republicans attack more than minorities, it is women. They hate both with a passion and although they want us all to believe that they are turning over a new leaf, we know it’s bullshit. I’ll be convinced when every member of their party that has ever made a racist or misogynistic comment resigns. Then maybe I’ll believe they are serious about changing. Until then, they can try to paint a picture of butterflies, buttercups, and compassion but really it’s just a cover-up to get more brown hating, women despising, rich white men in office to make laws that target everyone that isn’t white and doesn’t have a penis.
