Skylar Davis, A 13 year-old Kansas Boy was reportedly suspended from school over wearing a purse to school. Apparently it’s the law for all Kansas school boys to carry an AR-15 and a copy of a David Barton book to school. The Kansas boy’s mother is justifiably upset and express her outrage at the clear-cut discrimination since girls can wear them with no repercussions.

“I don’t think everyone should be treated differently,” Skylar Davis said.Everyone should have the same privileges.” (KCTV5)

Unless the gender bending lad has a swastika patch on his purse or if the purse was actually a stylish bomb, then there should be no reason as to why he can’t don the same stupid accessory as his female counterparts. And it’s not like the purse wasn’t stylish or anything. The decision of  Anderson County Senior-Junior School to suspend Skylar is somewhat questionable considering that he had been wearing the Vera Bradley purse for some time with no problems.

“It expresses myself and I think everyone else can wear it, so I wear it as well,” Skylar told KCTV5’s Dave Jordan. (KCTV5)

Skylar is 13 and therefore his only expectation in life is to know how to write out every emoticon. So if he feels that donning a colorful purse to school  allows himself to feel comfortable, then who the hell are we to  judge if it doesn’t interfere with his class work.

School authorities called Skylar’s mother after he refused to take it off.

“I was a little furious, and I called the school [and spoke to Hillard] to reverify the story, and yeah, he refused to take off his Vera Bradley bag, nothing more to do it,” said Sylar’s mother. And questioning the timing of the suspension, she added “Skylar has been going to school since August with that same Vera Bradley bag on, hasn’t taken it off. What is the problem?” (KCTV5)

Skylar’s mother mentioned that she found nothing in the Kansas school’s handbook prohibiting students wearing bags or purses. The school has yet to comment on the matter and will keep Skylar suspended until he doesn’t wear the purse.
