In multiple videos, South Carolina state senator Lee Bright advocates the use of guns to achieve his view for the United States.
Yes, you read that right. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham’s top-polling primary challenger, state Sen. Lee Bright, stood on the steps of the South Carolina statehouse (Confederate flags proudly displayed behind him) and said:
“If the Tenth Amendment won’t protect the Second, we might have to use the Second to protect the Tenth.”
Lee Bright’s insinuation being, if you don’t let South Carolina do as they want then South Carolinians will take up arms against you.
And this isn’t the first time that Lee Bright has advocated the use of violence to get his way. Earlier this year at a rally he said:
We want to use the Tenth Amendment to protect the Bill of Rights, but if we have to, we will use the Second Amendment to protect them. We want to be a peaceful people, but we can’t sacrifice liberty for peace.
So, again, let us have our way or we will shoot you. And this guy is a state senator already. What are they putting in the water in South Carolina? The mere fact that Lee Bright is a primary candidate for U.S. Senator ought to send a shiver up your spine.
The 2nd versus the 10th according to Lee Bright.
Now you know what the Second Amendment says. Lee Bright makes it simple. You get to have guns. And if the federal government doesn’t interpret the Tenth Amendment the way he does then you should use those guns. But you may not be familiar with the tenth:
The Tenth Amendment states the Constitution’s principle of federalism by providing that powers not granted to the federal government by the Constitution, nor prohibited to the States, are reserved to the States or the people.
Just in case that’s still confusing, if it’s not in the U.S. Constitution or forbidden to the States, then the States have the right to decide OR the people, as a whole, can. Lee Bright is basically saying if the federal government, specifically Obama, attempts to bring about change then the people of South Carolina should disregard federal law and take up arms to shoot enough people to eliminate dissenting opinion.
Lee Bright is all about States rights and threatening violence to get them.
Proponents of nullification are who this primary challenger is trying to attract. What’s nullification? An unconstitutional idea that states can “nullify” federal laws that they don’t like.
But this state senator doesn’t stop there. Tea Party golden boy Lee Bright says:
The time for talk is over! We have got to be organized, we have got to participate in these elections, ’cause I’ve got to tell you, if we don’t, we might have to use the Second Amendment to defend the Tenth. And let me tell you, I want peace. Listen, peace is sweet, but it’s not so sweet for the chains of slavery.
At this point one of Lee Bright’s supporters responds, “Vote with guns!” Need anymore clarification?
Lee Bright’s justification of his radical ideals?
Well, Lee Bright, while stumping, said:
Let’s face it. It doesn’t take long for the congress and the U.S. Senate to come in and say, ‘Y’know what? These states are a lot of trouble. They’re gettin’ in the way. They’re organizing these people. They’re having these rallies. They got, you know, they got, some of them are even talking about militias. I mean, we gotta do something about this. So let’s just go ahead and dissolve them.’
I guess I missed that eloquence on C-SPAN. Surely there is some sort of evidence to back up his claim that the U.S. government is advocating the dissolution of states.
Strangely enough, I couldn’t find any. Does it surprise you to find out that no one in the federal government is proposing we dissolve the states of the United States of America?
And who tells Lee Bright it’s ok to advocate this?
The founders of the nation when they said, “No king but Jesus.” Except, the forefathers never said this. And, of course, God. As we see in the videos, you can’t run for office in the South without justifying your political position by invoking scripture, or God, or twisted interpretations of the Bible to prove the rightness of what you’re advocating. Facts be damned.
Video evidence of Lee Bright’s insanity.
In this next video, Lee Bright speaks to how Republicans have been elected to national office so they can compromise and bow down to Democratic rule. I suppose he means the compromise of 45+ attempts to repeal healthcare. Or, the shutdown of the national government. Or maybe it’s the rolling over of the Republican elected that made them the most obstructionist, do-nothing Congress in the history of Congress
Honestly, after watching this last one, released Friday, I’m at a loss. You would think that anyone running for public office, especially the Senate, would be full of factual information. A professional. We all have our views. But Lee Bright is the kind of dangerous politician that purposely misleads the low information voter to the point of inciting violence to achieve a goal that is in direct opposition to our form of government.
Within these three videos Lee Bright spews rhetoric. He threatens. He manipulates and fabricates facts. And encourages others to take up arms against the federal government and the people of the United States.
But, Lee Bright supports states “rights” to ignore federal law. Advocates the use of guns to achieve those goals AND wants to lay down his life like his forefathers did for his cause. Maybe someone in South Carolina will oblige the man. By his own definition, that would be just fine.
I can’t tell you how important it is for people to get out and vote in the mid-term elections of 2014. It’s the only voice you have. You can complain about smaller issues or bigger issues but if you don’t have the votes to get your candidates into office we will end up with radically ignorant politicians like Lee Bright representing the United States. It’s your choice. Sit on the couch. Be too busy to perform your civic duty on Election Day. Or wait in line and make sure that Lee Bright and those of his ilk never get into any public office again. And if the control of the legislative branch falls back into Democratic hands you may just see the politics stop and the policies start. After all, that’s how we got healthcare and Social Security.
