US Olympic freeskier Gus Kenworthy rescues stray puppies from Sochi

These stray pups would have been trapped and killed, then US Freeskier Gus Kenworthy did something so sweet and noble it might even make John Boehner smile. Photo from Gus Kenworthy’s facebook page.

US freeskier Gus Kenworthy did something so sweet and noble that it might even make John Boehner smile. Team USA may have not won a gold medal for freeskiing (though he did win a silver). But Gus Kenworthy earned his gold in awesomeness after he rescued some stray puppies in Sochi.

Here’s a video of the news report from Today.

Perhaps the greatest — and watchable — thing to come out of Sochi next to their awesome “in the ass” desserts and XXL’s “Airport Love” ad were the photos that Gus Kenworthy tweeted with the puppies he found.

Another animal rights activist is smuggling dogs out of Sochi to keep them from being killed.

As previously covered by yours truly, Sochi’s countless stray dogs were being rounded up and “sent to Belize” by Sochi’s doggy gestapo. Much like everything else with President Caligula’s Olympics, the unbecoming nature behind the company responsible for rounding up the stray dogs shocked and horrified all. Seriously, who the fu*k puts Curling before the life of a dog?  At any rate, there were reports of other do-gooders  preventing the doggies from certain death by smuggling them out of Sochi.

Fox News reports animal rights activist Igor Airapetian carries a stray dog to his car brought out of Sochi by fellow activist at a rendezvous point 75 miles away from the Olympic area in the early morning hours of Tuesday, in Tuapse, Russia. By doing so, he has joined other unsung heroes to ensure that the stray dogs are safely transported out of Sochi, as though they are dissidents trying to escape communism.

“I like dogs but that’s not the point,”said one activist. You know, even if you don’t like children and don’t want to have one, when you see a baby lying on the street bleeding or find out about maniacs hunting for children, you would want to do something to help.” (Fox News)

Gus Kenworthy plans to bring the puppies home.

Gus Kenworthy, like the animal activists, has pledged to save the sweethearts and bring them home with him.

Kenworthy tweets:

“For the people wondering, I’ve lined up kennels 4 the pups & made vaccination appointments. Doing all I can to bring them home w/ me!”

If you have any shred of dignity in those Gazprom-powered hearts of yours, Sochi, you’ll give this man a gold metal!

  • After the tweets have been erased and no photographers to take notice- what becomes of the cute and adorable puppies after they’ve grown up into a burden?

    Some P.E.T.A. tactics perchance?
