Fox News Guest With Ties To White Supremacists Attacks Neil deGrasse Tyson For Having A ‘Huge Afro’

Haters gonna hate.

In a Fox News discussion about extraterrestrials, guest Gavin McInnes veered off topic in order to launch a racial attack on astrophysicist and Cosmos host Neil deGrasse Tyson. This from a guy who has previously made no bones about his grudges against African Americans, gays and working women.

Tyson has publicly discussed his experiences with racial profiling. For example, in a 2009 panel discussion, he talked about having security guards follow him in department stores even after becoming “one of the most visible scientists in the land.”

Apparently, that’s not only offensive to McInnes, it was just about the only thing he could think of when asked to comment on Fox about a clip of Tyson discussing ETs:

I HATE this guy! …White liberal nerds love this guy so much, he could defecate on them like Martin Bashir’s fantasies and they would dance in the streets. All he does is – he’s drunk with adulation. And he talks about things like, “When I was young in New York, I would get racially profiled when I’d go into stores.” Back then he looked like he was in “The Warriors.” He had a huge Afro and a cut-off shirt and New York was a war zone. Sorry, you fit the profile.

All he does is complain about his lot in life… He’s a nightmare this guy.

…He also won’t shut up about creationists.

Nobody on the show challenged McInnes’ racial attack. Even though he has a history of bigotry on Fox. He has accused African American Attorney General Eric Holder of holding a “harmful” and “crippling” attitude because he spoke out about problems of subtle racism. He has attacked gays as “the least tolerant group in modern America” and compared them to Sharia law. He has characterized working women as unnatural.

Media Matters has more troubling details of McInnes’ bigotry:

McInnes used to write for, which the Southern Poverty Law Center identifies as a “White Nationalist” “hate group”… In one post for, McInnes compared a Canadian university to a “madrassa” because it wouldn’t host Jared Taylor, a white nationalist who advocates for founding all-white towns.

McInnes currrently writes for Taki’s Magazine, a “paleoconservative” website that publishes overtly racist articles including ones by neo-confederates. At Taki’s, McInnes has referred to Asian-Americans as “slopes” and “riceballs,” suggested Muslims are “stupider” and “more violent” due to inbreeding, defended blackface because some minstrel shows were “just mimicking black people” and “fun,” backed the racist comments of Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson, and argued that to yell the n-word at someone is “not racist” but “just very rude.” He also owns his own website,, where he defended Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s racist comments because Bundy was just “wonder[ing]” if African-Americans were better off under slavery.

It’s no surprise he keeps getting invited back on Fox. On Fox, overt racism is presented as refreshing candor while racial sensitivity is presented as an illegitimate race hustle.

Watch McInnes smear one of the country’s most distinguished scientists in this clip from Fox’s Red Eye show on June 3.
