Sarah Palin Wants To ‘Impeach’ Obama For Treating America Like A Battered Wife

On Tuesday, onetime Republican vice presidential candidate and former governor of Alaska Sarah Palin took a stab at President Barack Obama, declaring that he should be forced out of the White House. Palin said:

‘Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president. His unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, “no mas”. The many impeachable offenses of Barack Obama can no longer be ignored. If after all this he’s not impeachable, then no one is.’ [source]

Palin’s demand drew thousands of tweets and attention from the media, ensuring that she remained in the public eye. However, mocking President Obama is normal for Palin – just a few months ago, in March, Palin compared ‘bear-wrestling’ Russian president Vladimir Putin to the United States president, ‘who wears mom jeans.’ However, she is the highest-profile Republican yet to call for the president’s impeachment.

Another recent verbal punch by Palin had Washington, D.C. tongues wagging. When the nation turned its attention to a flood of illegal immigrant children who swarmed across America’s southern border, Palin wrote in an essay at

‘Without borders, there is no nation. Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America. It’s the only promise he has kept.’ [source]

Republicans claim that the president’s 2012 policy shift, which delayed the deportation of illegal immigrants brought to America as children, encouraged tens of thousands of unaccompanied underage children to cross the border from Central America. According to Palin, Obama has ‘given false hope and taxpayer’s change to millions of foreign nationals who want to sneak into our country illegally.’

‘Because of Obama’s purposeful dereliction of duty an untold number of illegal immigrants will kick off their shoes and come on in, competing against Americans for our jobs and limited public services. We’re the ones getting screwed, as we’re forced to follow all our government’s rules while others are not required to do so.’ [source]

Palin urges that impeachment proceedings in Congress can’t wait because ‘irreparable harm can be done in this lame-duck term as he continues to make up his own laws as he goes along.’ [source]

In the past, several Republican lawmakers have said that impeachment should be an option, however few have demanded it publicly. On board with the impeachment train are Senators James Inhofe and Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, and Tim Scott of South Carolina, Reps. Jason Chaffetz  of Utah, Blake Farenthold and Michael Burgess of Texas, Kerry Bentivolio Tim Scott of South Carolina – who is now a senator – and (R-Mich.), and Tim Scott of Michigan and then-Rep. Tim Scott of South Carolina (now i the U.S. Senate). In addition, the South Dakota Republican Party passed a resolution this weekend calling for impeachment.

Palin ends her essay with this strong statement:

“It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment. [source]
