Just Released: The Names Of 132 Palestinian Children Killed By Israelis

Disturbing statistics released by the United Nations have revealed that more children are being killed than Palestinian fighters in Gaza.

As of Tuesday morning, the UN’s Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that 149 children have died, in comparison to the armed group’s 87 confirmed members.

Palestinian monitoring group Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights just released the names of the 132 minors who have been killed to The Telegraph. The results are horrifying.

Save the Children has also come forward and claimed that children account for almost a third of those injured. Osama Damo, a Save the Children official in Gaza, said:

“This is why we described the ongoing operation as a war on children.”  [source]

Human Rights Watch released a statement that accused Israel of war crimes:

“Israeli forces’ failure to direct attacks at a military target violates the laws of war. Israeli forces may also have knowingly or recklessly attacked people who were clearly civilians, such as young boys, and civilian structures, including a hospital – laws-of-war violations that are indicative of war crimes.” [source]

In response, Israel claimed that Hamas was responsible for civilian deaths because rockets were launched and weapons were stored in areas that civilians were close to. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said:

“All civilian casualties are unintended by us, but intended by Hamas. They use telegenically dead Palestinians for their cause.” [source]

Attempts for a ceasefire of five days might have taken a step forward in Cairo, as Hamas and the Palestinian Authority are rumored to be discussing the easing of the Israeli-Egyptian blockade of Gaza.

UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon said it was his “hope and belief” that the fighting would end soon. On Tuesday, he traveled to Jerusalem and the West Bank to talk to Israeli and Palestinian leaders.
