Even as the right wing is taking great pains to remind the black community why no black person should ever vote for Republicans, Tamara Scott, a committeewoman of the Iowa RNC also wants to remind the Latino community that Republicans hate them just as much as they hate blacks.
During her weekly radio show, Scott took a few minutes to plop this gem on her no doubt aging, white and very angry audience:
“When we see these kids, you and I think young kids, we think maybe 12-year-olds, maybe even homeschoolers — excuse me, middle-schoolers. But we know back in our revolution, we had 12-year-olds fighting in our revolution. And for many of these kids, depending on where they’re coming from, they could be coming from other countries and be highly trained as warriors who will meet up with their group here and actually rise up against us as Americans.”
And the people training these kids as “Warriors”? Hamas and Hezbollah. No, seriously. Watch the short video clip:
Right, because everyone knows that those sneaky Muslims have camps all over South America training Latino children to be secret Muslim gang members that are coming here to overthrow America with their evil Muslim terrorism. Also, Muslims. BOO!
Why are conservatives so intent on portraying these kids as gang members, terrorists, drug smugglers, etc.? It’s so very simple. They’ve allowed their racism to completely override any other considerations. The idea of allowing even this small amount of brown skinned children into the country fills them with a visceral loathing. This is “their” country meaning it’s a “white” country and every nonwhite child that comes here threatens the status quo just a little more.
But, conservatives also like to pretend that they love Jesus and that America is a Christian nation. Scott even mentions this right after smearing the kids at the border:
I would say, Biblically, it’s not a Christian nation when you entice people to do wrong
The “wrong” here is children fleeing the insane violence of their home countries for the relative safety of the richest country in the history of the world. And herein lies the problem. In order for the right to still pretend they love Baby Jesus while screaming about how much they hate children of the wrong color, well, those children have to be part of some nefarious plot to destroy America. That convenient fiction allows bible-humping bigots to get their racism on and still go to church on Sundays and talk about what good people they are.
Praise Jesus and deport the darkies! Hallelujah!
