The fact that most conservative Christians hate Muslims- or anyone who doesn’t believe exactly as they do, for that matter- is no secret. One activist has really gone too far this time, though. Former San Diego GOP Party Official Gary Cass, who is now the leader of the right- wing group Christian Anti- Defamation Commission, posted an inflammatory argument on the group’s website that insists that ISIS has revealed the true intentions of all followers of Islam, The Raw Story reports. Cass says:

ISSI (sic) has done us all a favor. The true face of Islam is on full display even as Mohammed is burning in hell. We will have to face the harsh truth that Islam has no place in civilized society. Muslims cannot live in a society based on Christian ideals of equality and liberty. They will always seek to harm us.

While, yes, Mr. Cass, I think we can all agree that ISIS is a dangerous, extremist group whose only way to solve problems is through violence, I think it is more than a little far fetched to suggest that every single person in the world who follows the Islamic religion is on board with those sorts of activities. In fact, I think if you’d actually bother to educate yourself, you’ll find that the opposite is true.

Cass didn’t stop there, though. He went on to openly incite violence against Muslims. He writes:

The only thing that is biblical and that 1,400 years of history has shown to work is overwhelming Christian just war and overwhelming self defense. Christian Generals Charles Martel in 732 and Jon Sobieski in 1672 defeated Islamic Turks and their attempts to take the West. Who will God raise up to save us this time? Will God even intervene or turn us over to the Muslims for turning against Him?

So, in other words, Cass is openly calling for a holy war against Islam, and, it seems to me, against anyone who doesn’t follow his extremist version of Christianity. He also goes on to instruct his followers, in detail, how to go about starting this holy war, while trying to scare them into thinking that it is the only way to preserve Christianity and to save Christian lives, and to convince them that this violence is not only justified, but the only way to go about things at this point. Cass concludes, warning of Christian death here and elsewhere:

Now the only question is how many more dead bodies will have to pile up at home and abroad before we crush the vicious seed of Ishmael in Jesus name? The Good News is Jesus, and his indestructible Church, will prevail, but there will be pain and heartache along the way to victory. May we be willing to take the lesser pains now so our children won’t have to take greater pains later.

This man is obviously a dangerous extremist. The sad part about it is, though, that there are many more like him. We cannot write him off as just an extremist nutcase. Then again, what can be expected from a man who once said “you can’t be a Christian if you don’t own a gun?”

Definitely a fanatical point of view to hold, no doubt. Something tells me that if his cause gathers steam, things will get a lot worse before they get better.

Watch Gary Cass speak about guns and Christianity below, in all his nutty glory, if you can stomach it.
