GOP Senate Candidate Joni Ernst Wants To Arrest Federal Officials Who Implement Obamacare, Supports Nullification

Iowa Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst has some explaining to do after it was revealed that she supports nullification of Obamacare and arresting federal officials who implement it.

According to¬†Talking Points Memo, Ernst responded in the affirmative to both questions “in a Iowa State Legislative Candidates survey for Ron Paul’s libertarian-aligned Campaign for Liberty in 2012.”

Ron Paul, of course, has run for president on multiple occasions with the agenda of tearing the government apart, including ending Social Security, Medicare, and the Environmental Protect Agency. He also supports turning America into an isolationist nation that would never again participate on the international stage. Oh, and he’s also a racist who supports nullification laws and secession.

Enter, Joni Ernst, who is currently in a tight race for the US Senate with her Democratic opponent Bruce Braley. She filled out the seven question survey two years ago and question five read:

Will you support legislation to nullify ObamaCare and authorize state and local law enforcement to arrest federal officials attempting to implement the unconstitutional health care scheme known as ObamaCare?

And obviously, seeing as Ernst is a Koch brothers-backed conservative extremist, she answered “yes.”

States aren’t allowed to nullify federal laws. That practice is unconstitutional and has been settled since the end of the Civil War. Since then, nullification has been brought up consistently by southern states in an effort to escape compliance with federal laws ending segregation, which leads us to the present day where conservatives are trying to nullify the Affordable Care Act. The Supreme Court has consistently ruled against nullification, with the final ruling coming in the 1958 decision in Cooper v. Aaron.

In addition, Ernst indicated in the survey that she supports allowing people to carry concealed guns without a permit and opposed charging TSA agents with sexual assault if they are invasive during pat-downs. So, gun nuts will be happy while women going through airport security will fear being violated.

As expected, Democrats seized on the survey as further proof that Ernst is a Tea Party extremist hell bent on continuing the agenda of obstruction and destruction that has defined the Republican Party in recent years.

“Apparently arresting health officials for giving Iowans access to quality, affordable healthcare is something Joni Ernst believes in. This is just another example of how her radical Tea Party ideas are wrong for Iowa,” Iowa Democratic Party spokeswoman Christina Freundlich said in a statement.

The Iowa Senate race is a key race for Democrats as Election Day in November approaches. At stake is control of the Senate. If Republicans take control, we can all expect BOTH houses of Congress to be brain-dead for the next two years. We can also expect Republicans to block every single presidential nominee and appointment from filling critical government posts that need to be filled. That may also include the Attorney General, since Republicans are already saying that they don’t want to vote to confirm any nominee for the position until after the new Congress begins next year. Basically, we can expect Congress to completely shut down normal operations while Republicans plot to find a way to remove President Obama from office, even if it means impeachment, which Ernst says she supports.

Beyond the survey, Ernst not only supports impeaching President Obama, she opposes raising the minimum wage as well. Clearly, Joni Ernst is not fit to be a US Senator. She supports unconstitutional actions against laws she doesn’t like and would aid the GOP in sabotaging President Obama and the nation on behalf of the Koch brothers who have her bought and paid for. And the only way to stop her is to vote.
