La. School Board Candidate Says He’s Not A Racist, But He Does Hate ‘F*ggots’ And ‘Hitler Obama’ (IMAGES)

A Louisiana school board candidate stands by inflammatory Facebook posts he made expressing his distaste for “faggots, bums, illegal aliens, Veterans mistreatment and most of all: OUR HITLER PRESIDENT.”

“Coach Don” Gagnard, who has removed his Facebook page after facing an onslaught of criticism for his disgusting remarks,” who is running for District 1 Lafayette Parish School Board, previously had written a number of slur-filled Facebook posts.

According to Gagnard, our “HITLER PRESIDENT,” as the would-be school board member posted on August 11, “HATES OUR COUNTRY AND YOU ARE REDISTRIBUTING PEOPLES MONEY TO AFRICANS,” perhaps referencing the fight to send aid money to help combat Ebola.

Another post calls for the President to “go away and bring your urangutan (sp) with you.” According to KATC, he “self-identified as a racist” in that post. A number of other inflammatory remarks were spread across his page:

Gagnard told KATC in a phone interview that he did, indeed make the comments, but the coach refuses to back down. He told the station that he always posts “what I think is right and in my heart.”

Apparently, what’s “right” in his “heart” is a belief that Obama is Hitler, his wife is an “urangutan,” and those pesky Communists are giving away America’s money to black people — which is considered by Gagnard, an admitted racist’s account, a bad thing. His heart does not seem to have room for what he calls “”f*ggots, bums,” and “illegal aliens.”

When asked if he actually hates the above named people to whom he attached slurs, Gagnard confirmed that he does, indeed, hate them, but says that, though he admitted he was a racist, that can absolutely not be true because “coaches are not racists.”

“As far as the racist thing, that was definitely a misunderstanding. I’ve lived with blacks all my life. That’s not saying it’s my preference, but I’ve always happened to be around the blacks,” he said. “So as far as the racist bit, that’s a misunderstanding,” said Don Gagnard.

“I’ve bailed black people out of jail and bought them trucks,” he said. “If you call me a racist, that’s going to flip back on you. But the f*ggot thing, yea, you can stick with that.”

On top of the overt bigotry, Gagnard also has a criminal record. He was arrested in 2003 for stalking, and again in 2004 for violating a protective order, but the charges were eventually dropped. The candidate maintains that he was framed by a jealous husband.

Gagnard, who captured more than 36 percent of the vote on November 4, is scheduled for a runoff against Mary Morrison, who had snagged the most votes at over 44 percent.

After this, it should be an easy victory for Morrison — but, then again, voters did elect Joni Ernst to office.
