Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has finally gotten the recognition she deserves, and a leadership role in the Democratic Party to go with it. According to an earlier post on Addicting Info:
[Warren] has been appointed as a strategic policy adviser to the Democratic Policy and their Communications Committee, where she will oversee the helping of crafting the party’s policy positions and priorities.
There’s just one problem: Huffington Post reports Warren’s Democratic colleagues have “no idea” why their soon-to-be Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) created this new position for her! Gee, maybe it has something to do with how the fighting Senator from Massachusetts wows crowds with her fiery populism and empowering message, while her anemic fellow Democrats keep losing elections. And unlike other Democrats, Warren at least attacks from the Left when she criticizes President Barack Obama, instead of downplaying him.
What idiots thought it would be a good idea for Democrats to continue presenting themselves as “Republican Lite,” while distancing themselves from the president, Obamacare, and his many other accomplishments? Why haven’t they been ridden out of town on a rail?
Instead of doing some serious soul searching to figure out why Democrats keep losing elections when the Republicant’s policies have proven so dangerous, destructive, and cruel, our supine senators act like deer caught in the headlights. Some even went so far as to express utter bafflement:
Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA): “A liaison to liberals? I’ve never heard of such a thing. I asked her about it and she said she was some kind of adviser. I don’t know what it is. I don’t know what that all means.”
Sen. Joe Manchin (DINO-WV): “I didn’t even know this was happening. I never knew it. I mean, they can pick whoever they want to.”
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA): “That wasn’t really discussed. It’s a fait accompli.”
Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE): “I don’t know. I have no comment. I have no comment. It was not a debatable issue.”
Luckily, some of Warren’s fellow senators get it:
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO): “She is not a lonely voice when it comes to trying to make sure Americans in this country get a fair shot. I think Elizabeth Warren speaks for a lot of us when she talks about those issues, not just the more liberal organizations out there.”
Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI): “She’s going be a strategic adviser to Sen. Schumer and I … I think it’s a great idea. We are just reaffirming our commitment to do everything we can to make sure government works for folks so they have a fair shot to get ahead.”
Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL): “She is smart, she’s effective, she knows how to deliver a message that really resonates with working families. It’s a great choice by Leader Reid.”
