Grandma Takes Cupcakes To Grandkids, Gets Maced And Brutalized By Cop (VIDEO)

A Clovis, CA grandmother has allegedly suffered pepper spray, several broken bones, a dislocated shoulder and $180,000 in medical bills after police “caught” her delivering cupcakes and cookies to her grandchildren’s classrooms.

It all happened last April, when 78-year-old Mary Poole baked some goodies for her grandchildren, whose parents were divorcing and who were in the middle of a custody battle. She hadn’t seen her granddaughters in a while, so she took the treats (cookies and cupcakes) to what she thought would be a neutral place – their school.

“I hadn’t seen my granddaughters for some time and I wanted to see them, and so I baked some cupcakes and bought some cookies for my granddaughters’ classroom,” Mary said.

Upon arriving at the school, a school police officer informed her that there was a restraining order against her. She left, as instructed, but waited near the school and called her son.

At that point, the officer “became confrontational,” and pepper sprayed her twice in the face. Then things got much worse.

“He wouldn’t listen to anything I had to say, period. Every time I tried telling him anything…I mean, I was even telling him, ‘I’m 78 years old,’ before he grabbed me. He sprayed me with mace twice,” Mary told reporters.

“And I was very frightened, and I told him to call the police and he said, ‘I am the police. He jerked me out of my car with my left arm with such great force, and then threw me onto the pavement. From there he dragged me by my left arm up to the school grounds,” she said.

Poole is 5′ tall and weighs 110 pounds. She is now suing the Clovis police department for excessive force, elder abuse, assault and false arrest. To make matters worse, there was never actually a restraining order against her.

The school has not yet commented.
