Hilarious Video Reveals 56% Of Congress GOPers Suffer ‘Climate Change Denial Disorder’ (VIDEO)

“Does your parent, grandparent, or political representative suffer from Climate Change Denial Disorder?” A hilarious Funny or Die spoof ad leads in with that question, then explains:

“CCDD [Climate Change Denial Disorder] is a rapidly spreading disease that world health officials say, if left untreated, could destroy the entire planet.”

The camera cuts to a climate change denying man in a rowboat and full fishing regalia, who declares, “there’s nothing more relaxing than being out on the water.” The camera then pans out to reveal that the man — who looks suspiciously like the actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. — and his rowboat aren’t “on the water” at all, but rather on an asphalt parking lot. Apparently, the water has dried up.

The voice over then shows a diagram of Begley’s brain and describes the CCDD symptoms.

“Climate Change Denial Disorder is a rapidly spreading disease that attacks the neurons, making it impossible to comprehend basic words like ‘world,’ ‘melting,’ ‘not good,’ ‘science,’ and ‘factual.'”

And here’s what’s even more scary: 56 percent of Republicans in Congress are afflicted with this strange malady. That’s right — a full 170 Republican members of the U.S. House and Senate — deny that man-made climate change is an issue (to see if GOPers from your state are among them, scroll down to our handy-dandy list).

“56 percent of Republicans in Congress have been severely infected with CCDD and need your help immediately.”

Strangely, Climate Change Denial Disorder only seems to strike Republicans. No Democrats have been reported with symptoms of this disease.

The spoof pharmaceutical ad flows through a side-splitting montage of climate change deniers saying incredibly stupid things, and then declares that the only cure is a Q-tip for “cleaning the sh*t out of your ears, so you’ll be able to listen to scientists who know more about science than you do.”

Here’s the video with Funny or Die‘s hilarious Climate Change Denial Disorder ad.

Climate Change Denial Disorder: Funny but all-too-true.

Jennifer Swann observes on Yahoo! News that this “made-up disease” actually affects a lot more people than you’d think.

Even though a majority of scientists have determined that climate change is mostly caused by humans, just half the nation sees it that way.

According to the Jan. 2015  Pew poll cited by Swann, an overwhelming majority of Americans — 79 percent — have positive feelings about science, and hold scientists in high esteem. But, alarmingly, a sizable minority of 37 percent also believe that scientists are divided on whether climate change is caused by human activity. In fact, 97 percent of scientists agree, according to NASA research.

Oh, and a February post by Tiffany Germain from BillMoyers.Com sheds some light on the subject. They list all 170 GOP House reps and senators alongside their most salient climate change denying quotes.  And perhaps this is no coincidence. Germain points out these same lawmakers raked in over $63 million from various sources in the fossil fuels industry:

All told, 170 elected representatives in the 114th Congress have taken over $63.8 million from the fossil fuel industry that’s driving the carbon emissions which cause climate change. They deny what over 97 percent of scientists say is happening — current human activity creates the greenhouse gas emissions that trap heat within the atmosphere and cause climate change. And their constituents are paying the price, with Americans across the nation suffering 500 climate-related national disaster declarations since 2011.
