Jeb Bush really, really wants people to know that he loves war. In a recent interview with Megyn Kelly, the presidential hopeful said that he would have invaded Iraq if he had been in his brother’s shoes during George W. Bush’s administration.
Megyn Kelly asked Bush:
“Knowing what we know now, would you have authorized the invasion?”
Bush responded, saying:
“I would have and so would Hillary Clinton. Just to remind everybody, so would everybody that was confronted with the intelligence that they got.”
Kelly asks the question again, almost in disbelief, saying:
“You don’t think it was a mistake?”
Bush responds, saying:
“In retrospect, the intelligence everybody saw — that the world saw, not just the United States — was faulty. And, in retrospect, once we invaded and took out Saddam Hussein, we didn’t focus on security first.”
Bush goes on to admit that mistakes were made during the Iraq invasion, but still maintains that he would have gone ahead with the invasion.
This is just more of the same nonsense we have seen come from Bush since he began his campaign. In his first campaign video, he blatantly laid out his plan to continue his family’s legacy of expanding the American empire in the name of profits over human life. He also inadvertently-maybe-not-inadvertently quoted propaganda from the novel 1984 in a campaign video.
Another recent insight into the workings of Jeb Bush’s brain was made when he stated that his brother was one of his top advisers on the Middle East.
Given the fact that the GOP is dying to invade Iran, I think it is safe to assume that if Jeb Bush or almost any other Republican takes the Oval Office in 2016, we are all but guaranteed to see war with the country.
