Vermont GOP Senator Accused Of Multiple Counts Of Rape – Refuses To Resign (VIDEO)

Vermont GOP state Senator Norman McAllister was arrested last week under allegations of sexual assault and other prohibited acts.

The accusation is that McAllister pressured women to have sex with him in exchange for rent or partial rent. He also allegedly pressured at least one woman to have sex with farm workers.

McAllister, who is also a dairy and goat farmer, is said to have suggested to one of the women that she could lower her rent payments if she had sex with Mexican farm workers, officials told the paper.

There is also a third allegation with fewer details. One victim, a former staffer, was reportedly a minor at the time.

McAllister has pled not guilty to all charges and he’s refusing to resign, asserting, “I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong.”

That doesn’t mean he’s getting off scot-free, though. On Wednesday, McAllister lost a possible $20,000 agricultural grant for his farm in part because of his arrest.

He has only filled out part of the paperwork and the state was awaiting the rest when the arrest came down. Agriculture Secretary Chuck Ross pulled the application in light of the news.

If McAllister is convicted, it could mean a life sentence. He is currently out on $20,000 bond. His fellow lawmakers are saying that they’re “extremely concerned” but there is little they can do about it. According to Vermont law, McAllister can keep his seat until he is convicted, if he is convicted.
