Here’s Half The GOP Presidential Field Chilling With Child Molester Josh Duggar (SCREENSHOTS)

Recently it was revealed that Josh Duggar, one of the “stars” of TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting,” was accused of molesting numerous young girls (often while they were sleeping) — including his sisters — when he was younger. Duggar’s acts were so horrific that his own father, Jim Bob, had no choice but to turn him in.

NY Daily News reports that Duggar admitted to abusing the (at least) five child victims:

“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” Duggar said in a statement to People magazine on Thursday. “I confessed this to my parents, who took several steps to help me address the situation.”

Duggar admitted fondling the breasts and genitals of at least five girls, sometimes as they slept. He has resigned his position as a lobbyist with the Family Research Council (FRC), an organization dedicated to preserving family values in America.

“We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”

The “counseling” Duggar received was administered by a state trooper and friend of the family who gave Josh a “very stern talk” in lieu of taking official action. The state trooper, Jim Hutchins, is currently serving 56 years in prison for child pornography.

In light of the revelation of his deviant behavior, Duggar resigned his post at anti-gay hate group, The Family Research Council. On its web site, the group announced Duggar’s resignation:

“Today Josh Duggar made the decision to resign his position as a result of previously unknown information becoming public concerning events that occurred during his teenage years.

“Josh believes that the situation will make it difficult for him to be effective in his current work.  We believe this is the best decision for Josh and his family at this time.  We will be praying for everyone involved,” concluded Perkins.

Duggar has earned the love and admiration of conservatives over the years with his hardline stance against the LGBT community. In fact, here are photos of him with many of the major 2016 Presidential candidates and other prominent conservatives– photos that these conservatives almost certainly wish they could burn from the internet:

While it would be unfair to apply “guilt by association” in this instance, as these candidates likely did not bother to vet Duggar before cozying up to him (After all, he is a good “Christian” who espouses many of their hateful viewpoints), that doesn’t completely wash their hands of the Josh Duggar’s past. Why? Because even though we can’t fault Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, or any of Duggar’s friends for taking a photo with him, one would assume that conservatives would at least bother to look into someone’s past before allowing him to speak at a national conference:

One would assume that the Family Research Council would have bothered to look into Duggar’s past before placing him in a position to claim rather ironically that the LGBT community jeopardizes the safety of children in the FRC’s war on the gay community.

One might assume that Duggar’s mother Michelle, who absolutely knew of her son’s crimes, would not have claimed that a LGBT nondiscrimination ordinance would empower “child predators” to threaten “the safety and innocence of a child” as her son had done to at least five children.

Conservatives are willing to prop up quite literally anyone they can use to their advantage — including Ted Nugent, an admitted pedophile (who took legal guardianship of an underage girl so he could have sex with her and even wrote a song about his underage sexcapades)  — as long as that person is willing to spew hatred for their cause.

While there is no reasonable way for a right-wing politician to have known the darkness inside Josh Duggar, there was absolutely no way for them to not have known that Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson very publicly stated in the 1990’s that men should marry 15 and 16-year-old girls before they become old maids at the age of 20. “You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. They’ll pick your ducks,” said Robertson, who married his wife Kay when she was just 16 years old. “You need to check with mom and dad about that of course,” he added later in an attempt to not sound creepy.

Simply put, even if they did know, and the attacks on these young girls’ innocence didn’t get much press (as with Robertson), would they truly have cared?

It will be interesting to watch a flood of conservatives falling all over themselves to create distance between them and Josh Duggar — perhaps even the entire Duggar family. Of course, Duggar says God has “forgiven” him, so it is entirely possible that we will soon see an influx of right-wing support for him, as well.
