Liberals Are About To Outnumber Conservatives On Social Issues (CHART)

Sorry, conservatives. It looks like your nightmare is coming true, and that’s a good thing for America.

For years, conservatives have been pushing a brutal social agenda that would outlaw homosexuality, ban abortion without exceptions, allow racism and discrimination against others, make the Bible the law of the land, and punish the poor. But it looks like we know why conservatives are so desperate to create their dream world.

For the first time since Gallup began keeping track of self-identified liberals and conservatives in America when it comes to social issues, the two groups are now tied at 31 percent each. Since 1999, more people have identified as social conservatives, but the tide is turning.

According to Gallup:

Americans’ growing social liberalism is evident not only in how they describe their views on social issues but also in changes in specific attitudes, such as increased support for same-sex marriage and legalizing marijuana. These longer-term trends may be attributable to changing attitudes among Americans of all ages, but they also may be a result of population changes, with younger, more liberal Americans entering adulthood while older, more conservative adults pass on.

Indeed, conservatives are, in fact, dying off at a faster rate than liberals as liberal-leaning millennials continue to rise to take over the country while the older conservative base continues to wither and die.

Politico reports:

By combining presidential election exit polls with mortality rates per age group from the U.S. Census Bureau, I calculated that, of the 61 million who voted for Mitt Romney in 2012, about 2.75 million will be dead by the 2016 election. President Barack Obama’s voters, of course, will have died too—about 2.3 million of the 66 million who voted for the president won’t make it to 2016 either. That leaves a big gap in between, a difference of roughly 453,000 in favor of the Democrats.

That means conservatives will have a more difficult time winning elections, and liberals will finally be able to reverse the damage caused by conservative social policies. And considering that Republicans have thus far only pandered to old white people while Democrats have made an all-out effort to welcome diversity within their party, it’s only a matter of time before Gallop records that social liberals outnumber conservatives for the first time. And it could remain that way for decades if the GOP refuses to change.
