Remember the tales of Jim Bob Duggar reporting his son’s crimes to a friend who was a state trooper (and is currently serving 56 years in prison for child pornography)? Well, that friend has now weighed in on Josh Duggar’s horrific abuses against four of his siblings and one unidentified victim — and what he has to say is not in any way good news for the Duggar cult.
After covering up his son’s crime for a year, Jim Bob took Josh to meet with State Trooper Joseph Hutchens. The Duggar patriarch says that Josh “admitted to Hutchens what [Josh, redacted] had done.”
Hutchens, however, tells a different story. InTouch, the publication that first revealed Josh Duggar’s slimy kid-touching past, interviewed Hutchens through a representative of a local law firm. Hutchens says he knows his “reputation is shot,” but that he would have reported the crime — if Jim Bob Duggar had been honest with him.
Hutchens told InTouch he was informed by Jim Bob and Josh that:
“Josh had inappropriately touched [redacted] during the time she was asleep. He said he touched her through her clothing and he said it only happened one time.”
The fact that it only happened once, says the disgraced law enforcement official, was what led him to not report what he thought was a lone incident.
“I did what I thought was right and obviously it wasn’t,” he says. “If I had to do it over again, I would have told him immediately I am going to call the hotline and contacted the trooper that worked those cases and have a full report made. I thought I could handle it myself.”
“I have lost a lot of sleep over it. I am a Christian myself and I worry that something else may have happened. I would be responsible for it, in my opinion, by not reporting it,” he continued. “The young girl should have been my first priority.”
Hutchens was arrested four years after the report was made and convicted on child pornography charges. He served three years and was released in 2010, but then was arrested on four additional counts of distributing child pornography. The former cop remains incarcerated today.
Since news broke of Duggar’s terrible deeds, conservatives have been rallying in support of their favorite anti-gay child molester. Even 2016 presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee spoke out in support of Duggar, calling his actions “inexcusable,” but making it clear that he backs Josh Duggar 100 percent. One Duggar relative even dubiously claimed that anyone would molest a child, if they could get away with it.
Though Jim Bob Duggar once campaigned on a platform that would have called for the execution of all child molesters like his son, his stance changed a bit after Josh’s actions came to light. When the perpetrator is his own son, however, Jim bob says Josh made some “bad mistakes” during a “dark and difficult time,” but that it brought them all “closer to God.”
Aside from the “stern talk” Josh received from the kiddie porn-loving State Trooper, the repeat child abuser was sent for “counseling” at a center founded by Bill Gothard (a man who was heavily backed by hobby Lobby’s Green family). Gothard resigned his position after it was discovered that he was sexually grooming teens and young women.
Through Gothard’s philosophy, Josh Duggar learned that his sisters and his other victim were at fault for tempting him into sexually abusing them while they slept. All he needed to do, Josh learned, was claim that Jesus has forgiven him and — just like magic — all is absolved.
His victims, on the other hand, were taught that their “immodest dress” and “evil friends” caused the abuse rather than their deviant brother’s horrific lust for children, including Josh Duggar’s own kin.
Recently, Zsuzsanna Anderson, wife of anti-gay hate group leader Stephen Anderson, spoke out against Josh Duggar. “I believe that all pedophiles are reprobates,” she said, “that they are unregenerate and in fact can never change, and that they, like all sexual deviants, should be executed as the Bible demands, lest they spread their abusive ways and corrupt more innocent lives.”
“I do not believe that pedophiles or other deviants who claim to have found God” — like Josh — “are telling the truth,” she added. “I believe this is a lie they tell to gain access to easy targets, namely children in church, at camp, etc.”
Anderson condemned hypocrites who spew rhetoric about forgiveness in this situation. While it is important for Christians to forgive and to seek forgiveness, “we are not all pedophiles.”
“That is an unnatural desire, only experienced by a reprobate. Even the world, which is happy to excuse most sins and licentious living, is still horrified by child abuse,” Anderson said. “No, forgiving a pedophile is not a great picture of what the gospel is all about. They have crossed a line where not even God is willing to forgive – why should we?”
You know that your actions are reprehensible when your actions are too disgusting both for someone who collected enough kiddie porn to earn more than 56 years in prison and the wife of a hate group leader who preached that we could cure AIDS if we exterminated all the “homos.”
Especially if, at least in this case, they are right.
