Conservatives everywhere are freaking out about a new “undercover video” that’s just been released that purportedly shows Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Deborah Nucatola, describing how they sell aborted baby parts. Every conservative media outlet in the nation is showing the video, which they claim is “absolute evidence” that Planned Parenthood is conducting an evil and illegal operation.
There’s only one problem with this – the conservative right has been making these attempts for years. They are hoping to sensationalize the facts enough with reporting like this in a bid to further the debate on abortion.
Planned Parenthood released an official response shortly after the release of the video, to inform the public that it was “heavily-edited” to distort the issue. They also say that “there is no financial benefit for tissue donation for either the patient or for Planned Parenthood.” The full two-and-a-half hour video can be seen HERE.
Furthermore, the issue of fetal research from aborted fetuses has been debated extensively for the past decade. But, The Center For Medical Progress, the group that claims this is the result of a 3-year investigative study, is packaging it up as today’s headline news.
The truth is, fetal tissue research has saved a countless amount of lives and will continue to do so. While the issue is certainly controversial, especially when it is sensationalized as ” baby body parts,” the fetal tissue of an unborn fetus would be discarded after an abortion. This way it can be used in a constructive way. Conservatives never bring up that point. Instead, they try to pervert the issue and make it seem that Planned Parenthood has a financial incentive to coerce more women to get abortions, to further an alleged black market for human baby parts. They will bend this issue frontwards and backwards until they can take a woman’s right to choose away.
Instead of discarding the fetal tissue, it should be made available for scientific research – and it has been. So far, to date, aborted fetus tissue has helped hundreds of millions of people win the fight against rubella, rabies, adenovirus, polio, measles, chickenpox, and shingles – the list goes on.
Before you let this video startle you, think about the medical research of Leonard Hayflick, who created a cell strain WI-38 from an aborted fetus. To this day, it is still creating breakthroughs in medical science. The truth is, opponents of fetal tissue, sensationalize the term “body part” but it’s medical jargon. A lung can be the size of a fingertip, and it is.
In fact, chances are several people that read this article are alive today because of the research that has been conducted from aborted fetuses. This is without question from either the right or the left. But, they still hate it. They are so deranged that some people who are chronically sick won’t even take vaccines if they know its research that came from aborted fetuses. They’d rather die. If it were your son or daughter’s life, you wouldn’t be saying that.
The good news is, research will only continue. The secrets of cellular aging and cancer are all being advanced because of practices like these.
On top of this, it’s just wrong to sensationalize something that as far back as 2008, has been upheld by federal courts as being legal. In a very similar case that was reported on extensively by the media, and later brought under investigation by the FBI, Acting US Attorney Jim Flory decided that “after a thorough review of the issues involved,” that there were no violations of federal statutes.
Conservatives hate abortion – let’s get this point out of the way. They will do anything to discredit it. That means virtually anything, including trying to entrap a top doctor from Planned Parenthood in a secret video allegedly admitting that they sell human baby parts for “profit.” They have been attempting to do this for years, but each and every time the public has come back at them and said “hands off of Planned Parenthood.”
Right-wingers are hoping you will react very strongly to this and swear off abortion and a woman’s right to choose. Don’t let them fool you with the same old tactics.
