An Angry Trump Gives Out A U.S. Senator’s Private Phone Number On Live TV (VIDEO)

If you’re a Republican candidate for the 2016 presidential nomination, there is one thing you can be sure of: if Donald Trump hasn’t attacked you, it’s because it isn’t your turn yet.

Trump took his dog and pony show to South Carolina on Tuesday, where he decided to go after native son Lindsey Graham. Trump was apparently irritated because, earlier on Tuesday, Graham advised Trump to “stop being a jackass.”

Graham’s remarks came on the July 21 edition of CBS This Morning, where he said:

“I don’t care if he drops out. Stay in the race, just stop being a jackass.

I’m looking for him to be a responsible member of the 16-person primary and stop saying stuff like this. The world is falling apart. We’re becoming Greece. The Ayatollah’s on the verge of having a nuclear weapon, and you’re slandering anybody and everybody to stay in the news. You know, run for president, but don’t be the world’s biggest jackass.”

Graham should have known better than to go after The Donald. On a campaign stop in South Carolina, Trump let Graham have it. He called Graham a “lightweight,” and a “stiff,” and told the audience that Graham couldn’t get a job in the private sector. Then he regaled the crowd with a story about how Graham allegedly begged Trump to help get him an appearance on Fox and Friends.

Trump says that Graham gave him his cell phone number. “I found the card!” Trump announces, as he waves a piece of paper with a phone number in front of the crowd. “I don’t know if it’s the right number, let’s try it,” he says.

According to NBC News, a call to the number that Trump displayed sends the caller to a recording that says that Graham’s voicemail box is full. An aide to the senator confirmed that the number does, in fact belong to Graham.

So far, Democratic candidates have largely escaped Trump’s attention, as he has been too busy violating Ronald Reagan’s “11th Commandment”: Thou shalt not speak ill of any Republican. And for the short term, at least, Trump’s attacks seem to be working. MSNBC is reporting that Trump has a double digit lead in the latest Washington Post/ABC News poll.

Radio host Thom Hartmann advanced an interesting theory on his show about why Trump is attacking other GOP candidates. After observing that Trump has hired a veteran of the Koch brothers group, Americans For Prosperity, as his campaign manager, Hartmann speculated that Trump is clearing the deck by tainting other candidates in the minds of Republican primary voters. When Trump inevitably drops out of of the race, so the logic goes, he will have cleared the way for Wisconsin governor Scott Walker, a Koch favorite, to become the nominee. Hartmann points out that Trump has never criticized Walker.

Of course, it could just be that it’s not yet Scott Walker’s turn yet.
