Creepy Subway Spokesman Jared Fogle Reportedly Paid For Sex With A 16-Year-Old

Human trafficking is a serious problem in this nation and around the world. Often, the victims are minors, children who are trapped in a desperate cycle of selling their bodies to feed a drug habit, please a pimp, or both. These children are being bought and sold like merchandise, and they are completely powerless. If we want to stop it, the key is getting the pimps and the johns; after all, the trafficked minors are the victims. As long as there is demand, the underground sex trade will continue. Killing the demand is how we stop these horrors and give these victims the chance to heal and  have a normal life.

Well, we might be a step closer to that, because someone extremely high profile has been caught admitting to paying for sex with a minor. Gawker reports that Jared Fogle, the man famous for losing a ton of weight on a diet that consisted almost entirely of sandwiches from the “Eat Fresh” fast food chain Subway, has had text messages subpoened by the FBI. In them, there is evidence that he paid for sex with a 16-year-old. The text messages were between Fogle and a female owner of a Subway franchise. In the texts, the creepy Subway spokesman allegedly tells the woman that she should put up a Craigslist advertisement in which she offers herself up for sex in exchange for money.

Of course, Subway didn’t want this to come to light. The woman says she filed a formal complaint, but the complaint has “mysteriously” disappeared. How convenient.

Business Insider reports:

In the messages, Fogle repeatedly asks the woman — a Subway franchisee at the time — to advertise herself on Craigslist for sex with other men.

He asks her if he can watch the sexual acts and tells her she can make about $500 per act.

As if that weren’t bad enough, according to Business Insider, Fogle pressured the woman into hooking him up with her underage cousin. Here’s a transcript from the message chain, again from Business Insider:

“When can we find a time for me to talk to your cousin?” Fogle asks in a message dated May 1, 2008.

“Any more news with your cousin?” he asks the following day. “Tell me what u think about when u think of the three of us all together???”

Earlier, in April, according to the affidavit, Fogle asked the woman, “How young would you like?… Would you want to have an adventure like that?”

On June 19, the lawyer says that Fogle again asked the woman to advertise herself on Craigslist. She responds: “Is this the same website you found that 16 year old girl you that you f*****? …I still can’t believe you only paid $100 for her.”

Fogle responds: “It was amazing!!!!”

She asks: “What part of her ad made you think she was selling sex?”

He says: “U will have to read them to see.”

Last month, when Jared Fogle’s home was the subject of a raid by federal agents in search of child pornography, people gave him the benefit of the doubt. It turns out, the man really does appear to be a kiddie-diddling freak. What makes it worse is that it is people like this, people in positions of power, money, and influence, who largely keep the underground sex trade functioning. Big companies like Subway help it along, too, when they worry more about their bottom line than about doing what is right. Well, the cat’s out of the bag now.

I don’t know about you, but Subway will definitely be added to the list of places I boycott. If Subway did try to cover this up, hopefully, their business suffers, and Jared Fogle winds up in jail for a very long time.
