The definition of terrorism is “the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.” Well, that is just what three anti-government loons who were arrested by the FBI in Charlotte, North Carolina, for building bombs were doing, but you can bet your bottom dollar the authorities will never label their activities terrorism. Why, you might ask? Because they are white Americans, not black or brown people of foreign – particularly Middle Eastern – descent.
According to Little Green Footballs, 50-year-old Walter Litteral, 41-year-old Christopher Barker, and 30-year-old Christopher Campbell have been detained by the authorities after intelligence was received that the three were making homemade explosives. They had also gone to military stores and gotten other survivalist equipment, including a .338 rifle, and materials to turn “dummy” grenades that are meant to be nothing more than collectibles from different war eras into actual, functioning explosive devices.
Later information revealed that these morons actually believe those crazy “Jade Helm 15” conspiracy theories, and they were likely preparing for President Obama and his government forces to use the military exercise to start invading states. I suppose they thought that a few homemade bombs could stand up against the mightiest military in the world. I’d like to see them try.
Anyone with a lick of sense knows that President Obama isn’t planning to use military training exercises to invade Texas, North Carolina, or anywhere else. Unfortunately, the paranoid bottom-feeders in this nation don’t have any sense, so they sincerely believe that martial law is coming with King Obama heading up that movement by force. Luckily, these idiots are behind bars where they belong, and no one has been hurt.
But, what if these hadn’t been three white guys? What if they had been brown men of Middle Eastern descent, or black men? Would they even be alive and in jail cells awaiting their constitutionally guaranteed day in court, or would they be dead, with right-wingers dancing on their metaphorical graves in the comments sections of every conservative social media platform on the interwebs?
Something tells me the latter is much more likely. Also, the authorities would be openly calling this domestic terrorism, which is exactly what it is. But, because it’s three white guys, they are alive and well, and no one is calling it terrorism.
Well, you know what? I am. Because that’s what it is. Terrorism is politically-motivated violence or threats of violence, and that is what these three men are guilty of. Unfortunately, because of the color of their skin, those charges will never see the inside of a court of law.
