Ted Cruz Blames ‘Liberal Fascists’ Like Ellen Page For Not Allowing Him To Discriminate (VIDEO)

When the majority of people think you are wrong, go to the people who think you are correct, however few there may be — that’s Ted Cruz’s philosophy, at least.

The Canadian-born Republican Senator from Texas, who thinks he has an actual shot at the Oval Office, recently sat down with Ed Berliner of notoriously conservative Newsmax TV. The pair talked about “religious liberty” and “persecution,” as well as Cruz’s run-in with actress Ellen Page at the Iowa State Fair.

You see, Cruz knows he’s not going to win over the “liberal fascism” in Hollywood. He believes they are against him and other “Christians” and have a “hatred” towards those who want to hold true to their “beliefs.”

Too bad the phrase “liberal fascism” is an oxymoron. Fascism is actually far right-wing politics, and liberal is to the left. However, the people who follow Cruz probably aren’t the sharpest tools in the box, so they likely won’t notice.

At the Iowa State Fair, Ellen Page had asked:

“What about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay-trans?”

Which is when Cruz turned the question on its head responding with:

“Well, what we’re seeing right now, we’re seeing Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith.”

Cruz believes people should be allowed to pick and choose who their customers are based on if they’re homosexual or heterosexual. He believes the REAL discrimination is coming from those who are forcing businesses to provide services to paying customers who happen to be part of the LGBT community. The most recent example of this that Cruz uses is businesses that work in the wedding industry. He believes people shouldn’t have to serve people they don’t agree with based on their faith, comparing florists to ministers.

However, Cruz misses one glaring truth.

These businesses are separate from the actual wedding. They are not the church. They are business owners who serve the public. Members of the LGBT community are a part of that public. If they choose not to serve specific members of the public, that is the very definition of discrimination. These businesses aren’t the church where the ceremony is being performed. They aren’t the minister. They are businesses that cater to weddings and they are being bigoted against specific individuals. This is NOT the persecution of religion, but rather specific people of a religion persecuting LGBT individuals.

However, Cruz still doesn’t seem to quite understand that telling Newsmax:

“An awful lot of folks in the media, an awful lot of folks in Hollywood, they dismiss the assault on religious liberty. They say it isn’t real.”

Because it isn’t. Unless you’re told you can’t believe in the God you worship, or can’t go to your church on Sunday, you are NOT being persecuted.

Then he has the audacity to say:

“I’m a Christian and scripture commands Christians to love everybody.”

Really, Cruz. Is that what all this LGBT hate is about then?

He continued:

“This is about whether the government is going to persecute people of faith for standing up to their faith.”

“And what we’re seeing right now is this liberal fascism and intolerance… Their object is to persecute, to punish, to fine any Bible-following Christian or believer that believes in the biblical definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman.”

“There are some activists who, frankly, manifest a hatred and intolerance for Christians, who are persecuting Christians… That is unfortunate. As I said, I think we should love everybody.”

NO ONE is “persecuting” Christians. Does he even know the definition of that word? If he doesn’t, he needs to learn it. If he does, then he’s just a smarmy douchebag trying to get people angry for no reason.

Gay people paying for goods and services isn’t exactly “punishment.” If these businesses serve the public, then they serve the public. There are anti-discrimination laws for a reason. Would these businesses turn away a customer who is black? Probably not, because it would be seen as discrimination. It’s the same thing.

The “hatred” and “intolerance” is coming from Cruz and these people who seek to discriminate against gay people. Not the other way around. He’s just doing his snake-oil salesman type thing to make people believe they are the ones being discriminated against because they aren’t allowed to discriminate.

No one cares that you’re Christian, Cruz. Really, they don’t. Although, to be considered Christian, you should probably start following the teachings of Christ. And the last person who would ever turn anyone away for being who they are is Jesus. Remember that.

Cruz thinks “we should love everybody?” Well, he should practice what he preaches.
