‘America’s Great Right Now’: Obama Just Put Trump In His Place

President Obama appears to be fed up with Donald Trump’s campaign constantly running down America. Speaking at the Business Roundtable, the President answered Trump’s claim that America doesn’t “win anymore.”

“America’s winning right now.”

Trump has also run his campaign on the slogan that he’s going to “Make America Great Again.” Obama took that on as well:

“America’s great right now,” and added, “We can do even better.”

In all of his stump speeches, Trump has often taken the opportunity to run down the country, painting a nightmare scenario of a nation on the decline as murderous raping hordes pour over the southern border as feckless national leaders sell out the country to China, Iran, and Mexico. This has vaulted Trump to lead the GOP field while establishment candidates like Jeb Bush and Scott Walker have faltered.

The media has largely focused on Trump’s status as an outsider, rather than highlighting how he has badmouthed the country while appealing to racist impulses, even as candidates like Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton have expressed alarm at his divisive campaign.

Vice President Joe Biden also recently called out Trump, noting:

“There’s one guy absolutely denigrating an entire group of people, appealing to the baser side of human nature, working on this notion of xenophobia in a way that hasn’t occurred in a long time.”

Ahead of the Republican debate, Priorities USA – a pro-Hillary Clinton Super PAC, also highlighted the negative message of the right’s presidential candidates, which stands in strong contrast to positive campaigners for the presidency like Ronald Reagan and President Obama.

On Tuesday the President took the 7th anniversary of the collapse of Lehman Brothers to tout his economic record – noting how unemployment has been cut in half, the number of uninsured has dropped by a third, and how the deficit has been reduced since he became President. He is on a roll!
