CA Judge: Group Behind Planned Parenthood Videos Must Surrender All Evidence

By now, it is well known that the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) is a group of anti-choice frauds who are hellbent on shutting down every avenue of reproductive choice in America. They have even gone so far as to break the law to accomplish this. Well, the jig seems to be up on these criminals now. A California judge has ordered CMP to turn over all evidence regarding the hoax surrounding the heavily edited videos that are the crux of the latest GOP efforts to defund the women’s health care organization.

According to Jezebel, U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick ruled that the group will be ordered to surrender all evidence related to their hit job operation on Planned Parenthood.

Judge William Orrick said in a hearing that the Center for Medical Progress must comply with the court’s requests for documents, escalating the weeks-long legal battle over the secret videos.

This ruling throws a huge monkey wrench in the plans of David Daleiden, the founder of CMP. Daleiden had originally decided that he and his group would use the fifth amendment in order to keep the details of their operation to obtain the footage used to make the now-infamous hoax videos away from the prying eyes of the legal system. This decision was made after CMP was sued by the National Abortion Federation.

National Abortion Federation President Vicki Saporta said of CMP’s actions:

“It’s telling that the defendants have been very vocal in the media saying that they have nothing to hide, yet in Federal court they want to plead the Fifth.”

Indeed. If everything were on the up and up with regards to how CMP got into Planned Parenthood– which, by the way, was by pretending to be from a medical research company– they would have no reason to use the fifth amendment of the Constitution to protect themselves. Everyone knows what CMP did stinks to high heaven. Hopefully, the National Abortion Federation wins every penny they have sued this group for and then some, and they can funnel that money right into keeping Planned Parenthood locations, as well as other women’s clinics, open.
