Jeb Bush Whines After Trump Nails Him With The Truth That 9/11 Happened On His Brother’s Watch (VIDEO)

Donald Trump dropped a truth bomb on Jeb Bush on Friday and all George W’s little brother could do was cry about it.

Throughout his campaign as a wannabe presidential candidate, Jeb Bush has constantly claimed time and time again that his brother George W. Bush kept America safe during his presidency. Of course, he ignores the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center and killed nearly 3,000 Americans on United States soil.

Indeed, Bush repeatedly ignored warnings passed to him by American intelligence agencies, including a major memo delivered to him on August 6, 2001 warning that Osama bin Laden was determined to strike us.

But Bush failed to act, and the worst terrorist attack in history unfolded just over a month later and eight full months into his presidency.

Jeb Bush would like Americans to forget about that, but Donald Trump decided to jolt our memories during an interview with Bloomberg.

“When you talk about George Bush, I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time,” Trump correctly pointed out.

Host Stephanie Ruhle then accused Trump of blaming Bush for 9/11,and Trump repeated himself.

“He was president, okay?” Trump replied. “Blame him, or don’t blame him, but he was president. The World Trade Center came down during his reign.”

Here’s the video via Bloomberg. The relevant remarks begins at the 33 minute mark.

While it is true that President Bush didn’t order the attacks or fly the planes himself, he can be blamed for fumbling the multiple warnings he received and for failing to act on them. In fact, Bush was even warned that terrorists were seeking to hijack planes for use in potential attacks. Something could have been done at that time. Measures could have been put into place. But all Bush did was pass the buck to the Department of Transportation and national security agencies.

Only after the World Trade Center became a pile of rubble did Bush take airport security more seriously.

Still, Jeb Bush continued to defend his brother in response to Trump’s remarks.

“How pathetic for @realdonaldtrump to criticize the president for 9/11. We were attacked & my brother kept us safe,” Bush wrote on Twitter, once again failing to note that his brother failed to keep us safe on 9/11.

Even MSNBC host Chris Hayes refused to swallow the bullshit that Jeb Bush was shoveling. “The first part of the second sentence is true,” Hayes replied.

My colleague Oliver Willis even replied by providing Jeb with this handy chart showing just how “safe” Americans were kept during the Bush Administration compared to the tenures of other presidents since 1980.

In other words, the only thing that is pathetic is that Jeb Bush actually thinks he can shove a fictional version of history down our throats. According to Jeb, his brother’s presidency didn’t begin in January 2001, but the day after 9/11. And even after that day, he still failed to keep Americans safe. Bush dragged America into two wars in which 6,000 Americans lost their lives, allowed Iran to build up their nuclear program, and created a power vacuum in the Middle East that led to the formation of ISIS, a ruthless terrorist organization that has killed Americans.

George W. Bush didn’t keep us safe. He made our lives less safe. And now his brother wants to be president so he can pretend that he is protecting us when in reality he wants to return American troops to Iraq and at some point start a war with Iran, thus making American soil an even bigger target for terrorist attacks to take place. In short, he wants to be just like his big brother, and that makes Jeb Bush a dangerous threat to the American people.
