Trump Declares He Wants U.S. Mosques CLOSED (VIDEO)

When a political candidate calls for the shut down of an entire religion so that they may no longer practice freely in the United States, that should sound all our alarms. And ordinarily, when people make political comparisons to Adolf Hitler it is cringe-worthy, because it is utterly inaccurate. It becomes so cringe-worthy, in fact, that we tend to be blind to politicians who are actually playing out of the Hitler playbook.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump marginalizes certain ethnic groups to the point where he sends people after them at his rallies, much like Hitler and his Brownshirts. He sends minions to do his dirty work — really dirty work. His racist rhetoric is only the tip of the iceberg though. Now, he’s saying that he would shut down mosques in the United States.

He’s not saying these things just to stir up votes. He believes in what he’s saying, and if given the opportunity, would send all undocumented immigrants out of the country. He would close U.S. mosques. He would try to make it easier to have guns. Which, if you add everything up, is a very lethal combination.

While being interviewed on MSNBC Monday morning, Trump was told that France will be closing some Mosques where there is considered to be extremism. Then, he was asked if he would do the same here in the United States. However, he takes it step further, and says:

“Well, I would hate to do it but it’s something you’re going to have to strongly consider. Some of the absolute hatred is coming from these areas…The hatred is incredible. It’s embedded. The hatred is beyond belief. The hatred is greater than anybody understands.”

Yes, the irony is palpable. This is the same man who wants to round up and deport Latinos. Trump continued, saying:

“You’re going to have to watch and study the mosques, because a lot of talk is going on at the mosques… Under the old regime we had tremendous surveillance going around and in the mosques in New York City.”

Trump is marginalizing and alienating an entire religion that is allowed to worship freely in the United States. He wants to put an entire religion under surveillance and possibly shut them down. He’s telling the nation to fear a specific religion, just as he’s telling the entire nation to fear and loathe Latinos.

This is terrifying, and we need to stop treating Trump as a joke candidate. He’s leading in the polls, and the possibility of him getting the Republican nomination is very real. As poynter.org points out:

“Trump’s racist views and his misinformation legitimize those same ideas among a swath of American citizens who fear the changing demographics of the country. Rather than rolling our eyes, let’s take Donald Trump seriously. Treating him as a clown rather than a candidate gives him permission spew hate.

Can Trump win? It seems unlikely… Of course that is what the media said about a funny-looking spewer of hate with an odd mustache who was dismissed as an awful public speaker and not a serious candidate in Germany in the 1930s. In the Reichstag elections of November 1932, held months before Hitler become Chancellor of Germany, there were 37 different political parties competing in a melee that bears some resemblance to today’s Republican primary. Given a long time to spread racist drivel to a public nervous about preserving their national identity from ‘non-Germans,’ Adolf Hitler won.”

If Trump were saying what he says about Latinos and Muslims in reference to people of the Jewish faith, you wouldn’t cringe at the comparison. You would take it very seriously. Remember that.

Trump is dangerous. His ideas are dangerous. It’s time to stop laughing and take a very real look at the fact that he is leading the Republican crop of candidates for the White House by a very large margin. We need to keep him as far away from the Oval Office as possible.
