Carly Fiorina Vilifies Planned Parenthood And Liberals In Response To Terrorist Attack (VIDEO)

In response to the right-wing terrorist attack against Planned Parenthood on Friday, Carly Fiorina continued her effort to damage the women’s health organization.

During an appearance on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked Fiorina to react to the shooting in which Robert Lewis Dear killed three people and wounded nine others after barricading himself inside the Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs.

“This is a tragedy,” Fiorina said. “Nothing justifies this and presumably this man who appears deranged, if nothing else, will be tried for murder as he should be.”

Wallace noted that Fiorina has been a particularly aggressive opponent of Planned Parenthood, pointing out that she repeatedly brought up debunked undercover videos heavily edited by the Center for Medical Progress allegedly showing Planned Parenthood officials talking about profiting off of selling fetal body parts.

Rather than just address the connections between the nasty anti-abortion rhetoric hurled toward Planned Parenthood and the motivations of the gunman, Fiorina continued to insist that Planned Parenthood harvested fetal body parts for monetary gain.

“Well, first, it is not alleged,” Fiorina claimed. “Planned Parenthood acknowledged several weeks ago it would no longer take compensation for body parts, which sounds like an admission that they were doing so.”

Of course, Planned Parenthood only received compensation to cover the costs of storing and transporting fetal tissue to research facilities. The organization never actually made a profit. In fact, an investigation by found that Planned Parenthood most likely took financial losses.

Fiorina then shifted her attack toward liberals.

“This is so typical of the left to immediately begin demonizing a messenger because they don’t agree with the message,” she whined.

“The vast majority of Americans agree that what Planned Parenthood is doing is wrong, and that’s why the vast majority of Americans are prepared not only to defund Planned Parenthood, but also to stop abortion for any reason at all after five months.”

That’s an awful lot of claims Fiorina just made. If only there were a way to prove that she is a liar. Let’s go to the polls, shall we?

First off, the “vast majority” of Americans actually are just fine with Planned Parenthood selling fetal tissue for medical research. 43 percent of Americans support this, while only 34 percent oppose.

Second, the “vast majority” of Americans actually OPPOSE defunding Planned Parenthood. According to an NBC/WSJ poll, “six in 10 Americans say they’re opposed to completely eliminating Planned Parenthood’s federal funding — including more than 40 percent who are ‘strongly’ opposed.”

The “vast majority” of Americans are also NOT okay with banning abortion for “any reason at all after five months.” According to the Washington Post, a Hart Research Associates poll clearly demonstrates that Americans support the right to choose in a variety of situations.

The pregnancy resulted from rape or incest (legal: 61 percent; illegal: 30 percent; not sure: 9 percent)

A woman’s doctor determines that the fetus has severe abnormalities that would cause fetal death or extreme disability (legal: 58 percent; illegal: 31 percent: not sure: 11 percent)

A woman’s doctor determines that the woman would suffer serious, long-lasting health problems if she carried the pregnancy to term (legal: 66 percent; illegal: 23 percent; not sure: 11 percent)

A woman’s doctor determines that the woman would be permanently unable to become pregnant again if she carried the pregnancy to term (legal: 45 percent; illegal; 38 percent: not sure: 17 percent)

A woman’s doctor determines that the fetus is not yet viable and the woman and her family determine that her health and personal circumstances are such that she should not continue her pregnancy (legal: 61 percent; illegal: 28 percent; not sure: 11 percent)

It certainly appears that Fiorina thinks she’s living in a fantasy land where everything she says is true. Unfortunately for her, this is reality and the facts prove she is full of shit.

Then then repeated that trying to link the Planned Parenthood shootings to “anyone who opposes abortion or opposes the sale of body parts” is using “typical left-wing tactics”.

The problem for Fiorina and other conservative groups who are trying desperately to distance themselves from the gunman is that Robert Lewis Dear actually told investigators after he was captured, “No more baby parts.”

Furthermore, “pro-life” conservatives have been celebrating the attack, even as it was unfolding in real time, and hailed Dear as a hero.

There’s also this Facebook post by a so-called “pro-life” group in Ohio. The Belmont County Right to Life group condemned violence against Planned Parenthood but suggested violence is justified against the women’s health organization to end abortion. In other words, they endorsed the terrorist attack.

And according to Media Matters, Center For Medical Progress board member, Troy Newman, who is the president of Operation Rescue, once called the murder of an abortion clinic doctor a “justifiable defensive action.”

So, to say that there is no connection between anti-abortion rhetoric and violence against abortion providers is absolutely wrong, especially when one realizes that violent attacks against women’s clinic have only doubled since 2010. In that time there have been acts of arson, firebombing, drive-by shootings, and assassination attempts against Planned Parenthoods across the country. Many acts of violence occurred particularly after Republicans began ramping up their rhetoric against Planned Parenthood in June in response to the very debunked videos that conservatives insist show the selling of “baby body parts.”

And there you have it. Rather than condemning the shooting, Fiorina sought to convince us all that Planned Parenthood and liberals are the real bad guys and that conservative rhetoric had nothing to do with the domestic terrorist attack against a Planned Parenthood in Colorado. Once again, a Republican fails to take responsibility for the actions taken by the extremists in their party.
