This Tweet Sums Up The Unbearable Nightmare Of Guns In America (IMAGES)

Arkansas State University’s official Twitter account has issued a tweet which sums up the nightmare created by gun crime in America, a sickness which Republicans refuse to treat.

Soon after, the college issued an update. The reports were true.

ASU have since updated to confirm that, at time of writing, the scene is under control.

Shortly after that, we heard further reports from local media that there was no active shooter.

As the story is breaking, Addicting Info and other news organizations are working to update the story as it develops. But the report reminds us that America is in a state of constant high alert. Not due to ISIS, or radical Islamist terror – but because of guns. Specifically, guns which conservatives refuse to control.

So far this year, America has had more mass shootings than days. Take a moment to let that sink in. We have so many mass shootings, they are almost becoming un-newsworthy. Another day, another shooting, another call for gun control, another round of intransigent hollering from conservatives – more dead bodies, more lives lost or ruined, more fear pumped into the veins of our nation, and no progress. No action. No hope that we will move past this sickness any time soon.

How many people are going to have to die before these over-stuffed, NRA-sponsored fanatics get off their a$$es and act to protect American citizens? As Humanosphere point out:

At 4.5 deaths per 100,000 people, the U.S. rates aren’t much lower than gun homicide rates in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (5.2 deaths per 100,000 people). Annually, the U.S. has about two fewer gun homicide deaths per 100,000 people than Iraq, which has 6.5 deaths per 100,000.

Does that not strike you as a crisis? Call me crazy, but the American Dream seemed to be pitched a little higher than sharing a league table with failed states like Iraq and the DRC. But until there is bipartisan action on gun control, that’s the nightmare Americans will be forced to endure. Shame on those who refuse to take the action that could end this madness.
