He may still win the Republican nomination, but right now it can’t be a lot of fun being Mitt Romney. The former governor of Massachusetts has been running for president for about six years now, so it’s not like he’s waiting to be discovered. Still, he is essentially stuck with a polling ceiling of 25%, despite being the presumed nominee of his party by the media.
In a time of unprecedented economic quality and unemployment (see Occupy Movements), in which the top one percent control 42 percent of financial wealth while 15 percent of the country is on food stamps and unemployment is still hanging at 9.1 percent.
America’s Right-wing, or at least its rank-and-file, fancies itself as patriotic, compassionate, law-abiding citizens upholding the traditional values that built this nation—essentially, they see themselves as the modern-day equivalent to say, Ethan Allen’s Green Mountain Boys. And in one respect, they may be correct.
By trespassing, we are saying that mega-corporate occupation of the power and wealth of this nation is illegitimate. We are here to take our power back and do our best to divest from an economic system that harms us and our fellow citizens
If audit verification of contribution claims is not required, it is possible to use misleading information to deflect setbacks in a campaign. The campaign is suffering from the ugly prospect of a tarnished candidate who has had past issues with sexual harassment.
Twitter troll and make-believe journalist, Andrew Breitbart–being the right-wing tool that he is–posted a video on his website that claims to be that of a man murdered at Occupy Vermont, even though every other news source including his own has it reported as an apparent suicide.
Many people who oppose the ‘Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act., also known as ‘Obamacare’, say the Founding Fathers wouldn’t have wanted the Government to make health insurance mandatory for private employees. This is not true, and is proven by history.
If you’ve listened to Glenn Beck anytime in the past year or two (and who hasn’t?), you’ve no doubt heard him talk about the sinister alliance between three groups, American progressives, labor unions and Muslim extremists. According to Beck, they want to collapse the current society and bring about a worldwide Islamic caliphate – a new world order dominated by Islam.
Had it not been for Perry’s Dumb and Dumber moment, surely Herman Cain’s name calling of Rep. Nancy Pelosi or Mitt Romney’s answer for why people call him a flip flopper would be center stage. For me, though, Cain’s name calling is the highlight of the debate (or low-light depending on how you look at it).
If you have ever found yourself searching for a good reason to continue your support of the Separation of Church and State argument, look no further than the Jonestown-like dynamics of Mississippi’s Initiative 26 proposal–better known as the ‘personhood amendment’–that was thankfully voted down in Mississippi’s most recent election.
This short story offers a parable about the politics of a small town where one rich family was able to protect themselves and their financial bottom-line by controlling the local media and making sure that they ‘owned’ as many local elected officials as possible.
The anti-union law was set up to severely limit the bargaining abilities of 350,000 unionized public workers. With more than a quarter of the votes counted late Tuesday, 63 percent of votes were to reject the law. Even more impressive, it seems more people voted “no” on Ohio bill 5 than who voted “yes” for Governor Kasich.
And now comes the greatest obscenity of all: the Iraq War. With this monstrosity of an endeavor now coming to a long overdo end, the final price tag has far exceeded the trillion-dollar mark, and that’s not counting the impact it had on the economy.
Given Cain’s dismal knowledge base on everything from neo-conservatism to whether China has nuclear weapons, it shouldn’t be a surprise that in the C-Span ‘Lincoln-Douglas’ debate with Newt Gingrich, hosted by the Texas Patriots PAC, he flubbed, again.
When he campaigned for the Governorship of Massachusetts and to be a senator, Romney consistently tried to portray himself as more liberal than his opponents. Now, as he runs for President, Romney is trying to portray himself as more conservative.
As Warren spoke to the audience, a man interrupted and complained about her support of the Occupy Wall Street movement. When the crowd attempted to shout him down, Warren intervened and asked them to let him speak. He said that he was unemployed and that the Tea Party has been protesting Wall Street longer than OWS.
It’s funny that Fischer would talk about stealing and coveting considering that the big bankers and numerous corporations are guilty of both and more. Wall Street has stolen hundreds of billions if not trillions from the American people over the last thirty years. And they want to steal more.
Let’s be clear. We’re running the show around here. We choose what happens. We decide what you believe. There is nothing in your life that we have not shaped and molded to suit our purposes. You know what we want you to know and you do what we want you to do. It’s pretty much just that simple.
