America is supposed to be the land of opportunity, and it is, but where the bulk of those opportunities go and who they have traditionally gone to in the past is not as much about the home of the free and the land of the brave as one might be inclined to patriotically believe.

As an African-American, I often hear African-American Republicans lament about how the Democratic Party has used our community. The nation recently heard Herman ‘Citizen’ Cain label the Black Community as 3/4 or 2/3 ‘brainwashed by the Democrats.’ I often see African American (highly paid) GOP operatives and pundits speak about their lack of understanding how the Black Community could solidly vote for Democratic tickets.

It appears that labor has decided to join the Occupy Walls Street protest. If you recall labor joined with Wisconsin protests as that state’s shifty governor accompanied the GOP moneyed supporters bidding by dismantling public service unions.

The Obama Administration decided to pass up an opportunity to appeal the decision of the 11th Circuit court judges ruling the individual mandate as stated in the Affordable Health Care for America Act (Obamacare) as unconstitutional. Due to the fact that judges from the 6th Circuit court issued a separate ruling to uphold the bill as constitutional, the case will likely be subject to a Supreme Court hearing just months before the 2012 election.

That is what this protest is all about. It’s about the big banks taking taxpayer bailouts then refusing to give loans to individuals and small businesses. It’s about major corporations taking taxpayer bailouts then giving themselves big bonuses. It’s about the mortgage and foreclosure crises, companies who are laying off thousands of employees to keep their profit-margins up, gas prices, oil industry profits, income inequality, climate change and corporate outsourcing, tax-avoidance, loopholes and greed.

So now historian fraud, David Barton, is suing two former candidates for the Texas Schoolboard and writer W.S. Smith for defamation of character over videos on Youtube attacking his historical perspective.

House Republicans and, yes, some Democrats, are killing the President’s jobs bill. House Majority Leader, Eric Cantor brazenly speaks about the ‘death’ of the jobs bill. Cantor does so without any productive or actionable counter proposals

In 2007, the world became engulfed in the largest economic slump since the Great Depression. The crisis was so damaging it was coined ‘the Great Recession’ and there was much comparison of the recession to the Great Depression of the 1930s in the mainstream media. However, what many failed to do was an in-depth analysis of both the Great Depression and the Great Recession, to compare and contrast the two.

A Fox News interviewer tried to catch a protester off-guard with his question, and ended up getting caught off-guard himself.

Obviously, the protest caught million and the news media by surprise. Of course we know of the police violence during the second week of the protest and we saw 700 detained protesters over the weekend. The early surprises has evolved to larger numbers of protesters and degrees of increased organization are becoming obvious.

What would you say to a school teacher who fails your child on every test, not because his/her answers were wrong, but because the teacher just doesn’t like him/her, and tells you so? What would you say about a boss who tells you that you are doing a good job, but he/she has to fire you because you have shifty eyes and he just doesn’t trust you?

Everyone agrees that owning a gun is a constitutionally protected right. But it’s something else completely to believe we have the right to threaten gun violence as protection against our own government. When you take the second amendment piece by piece, it doesn’t say anything remotely related to people protecting themselves from the American government.

Pat Buchanan is a very controversial figure. He worked in the Nixon and Reagan administrations and has since been a very vocal pundit on behalf of the extreme right wing of the Republican Party. Throughout his long career, he has been a presidential candidate, advisor, political speaker, analyst, and an author. But throughout that career, he has also been a sexist, racist, and a Nazi sympathizer.

We hear it all the time. The media, politicians, pundits, and even President Obama have endlessly referred to Social Security and Medicare as ‘entitlements’. Republicans talk about these programs as if people don’t actually pay for them, and distort the word ‘entitlement’ as if it means something horrible. The Right Wing, as always, is wrong.

Have the children of the 70s and 80s lost the will to fight? Did they ever have it to begin with?

It appears occupy(ing) Wall Street is the name of the movement, but it is clear the movement far exceeds the concrete boundaries of Wall Street.

I am sorry but I believe that the drone attack on Al-Alwaki and Samir Khan was wrong. Both of these men were American citizens and should have been taken alive and given a fair trial. But of course this is the Patriot Act in effect which gives the president the right to declare any American citizen an enemy combatant.

I have a message for the Bill O’Reillys out there. Any time you’re feeling so repressed and burdened by your shackles that you just can’t bring yourselves to show up and collect your meager millions, just drop me a line. I’ll be more than happy to relieve you of your burden. In fact, we can trade places. You can have my slightly lower tax rate and I’ll just have to rough it with your slightly higher one. Deal?
