I would imagine that every American has either been to Planned Parenthood or is related to someone who’s been to Planned Parenthood.

The problem with this view of breast cancer as a non-political issue is that it is simply not accurate. Instead, the Komen/Planned Parenthood controversy should serve as a reminder to all of us that cancer is and always has been an intensely political issue.

Komen Foundation’s announcement to cut funding to Planned Parenthood because he thinks Komen shouldn’t associate with an organization that performs procedures that cause cancer

In a statement released on Friday, Nancy Brinker, the founder and CEO of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, reversed the decision to cut off funding to Planned Parenthood.

But politics meant more than prevention this week to the Komen Foundation as they made an announcement: They will be pulling all funding from Planned Parenthood.
