North Carolina Republicans are so smug when it comes to their redistricting plans. After all, they’ve been getting away with the same kinds of election rigging schemes for years.

Americans cast 202.5 million votes to elect the current Senate, spread across three election cycles in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Of these three elections, 49% were cast for Democratic candidates and 46.6% for Republicans.
The idea isn’t horrible – as long as it’s done equitably, but Republicans have no such intention and in gerrymandered states, they write the rules.
It’s true! The Republican Party would be racially inclusive if only the Democrats were less racist! Or something…
For Pennsylvania and Michigan, Democrats got more votes than Republicans, yet because of redistricting, Republicans took more than twice as many seats.
