As the world watched the last U.S. combat troops cross over the Iraqi border into Kuwait; one could easily be inclined to contemplate on what, by today’s standards, constitutes a failed presidency, since the Obama administration has been tagged with that label regularly.

Many of us can give thanks for the things we have in our lives, none of which we can take for granted – jobs (for those who have them), having a place to live, a decent meal, a car to drive, heat, running water, electricity, for a supportive and nurturing family or group of friends. But when my bleeding heart pauses in giving thanks for my own better fortune, I remember all the people in this country who don’t have all those things – who, in fact, may have none of those things.

Presidential hopeful Ron Paul’s new proposal to slash federal spending would wipe out large chunks of the government’s research portfolio. The congressman from Texas and Republican candidate has unveiled a budget plan to reduce the deficit that would eliminate five federal departments: Energy, Commerce, Interior, Education, and Housing and Urban Development.

Obviously, Mitt Romney is the most electable Republican- polls support this. Many Democrats despise the former Speaker of the House, Newt, for his role in the impeachment of Clinton- although this is a topic I would prefer to avoid. It can be plainly seen that Herman Cain is as dead as Rick Perry.

Ron Paul Plans To Strangle Social Security

Ron Paul sure had a lot to say during his appearance on Meet The Press with David Gregory on Sunday. He talked about the war in Iraq, said he would abolish federal student loans, and compared taxation to stealing and said he would repeal the 16th Amendment. But Paul also had much to say about Social Security and to put it simply, he wants to strangle it.

Majority of Americans Support Legalizing Marijuana

Support has spiked in the past five years, with 40 percent of respondents favoring legalization in 2009 before numbers jumped another 10 percent, according to the annual crime survey conducted Oct. 6-9, with majorities of men, liberals and 18-29 year-olds currently support legalizing cannabis.
