The man born with a silver foot in his mouth has once again found himself amid a Rick Perry “oops” moment of PR despair following some reportedly “off the cuff” remarks he made in a video in what appeared to be a speech to his base ( corporate welfare queens). The remarks that the Obama campaign are now seizing on with absolute glee involved Romney telling a group of equally entitled rich pricks that “47 percent of the country doesn’t pay taxes.”
Here was Captain Capitalist in the behind-closed-doors fundraiser that was leaked to Mother Jones:
“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what ….These are people who pay no income tax.”
We’re all well aware that the Romney campaign isn’t going to let all those preposterous facts get in the way of their candidate from properly fleecing lower and middle-class working people into voting for a privileged patrician son of luxury. But until Mitt Romney seizes the internet in a leveraged buyout, they will continue to be used against him.
It seems that all of the lazy, socialist parasites that love the Obama’s progressive taxation programs actually all reside in the reddest of Republican red states.
From the non-partisan Tax Foundation:
Despite the fact these numbers only represent Americans who filed for taxes with no liability, and although these Americans did pay federal payroll taxes and state and local sales taxes but didn’t earn enough to file income taxes, that they disproportionately come from all the “freedom-loving, hands off my rifle, mountain dew, and truck nutz” states illustrates how clueless Romney is to actual US taxation and how ignominiously disingenuous he is to the actually productive states that voted for Obama in 2008.
Mitt Romney is so out of touch that he probably doesn’t even know the cost of a dozen Faberge eggs. He thinks someone earning $200k a year is middle-class. He proposed a tax plan that would raise taxes on the middle-class while giving his wall street buddies more diamond-encrusted Hummer yachts to wave the Cayman Islands flag. He has said he isn’t ‘concerned about the poor‘ and would probably strap them to the roof of his car. Since he believes that half the country is a bunch of free loading socialist house guests, which blatantly doesn’t take into account seniors, students, and (apparently) Republican voters, he’ll just continue to put out deliberately false and racially tinged attack ads for these low info (previously known as morons) voters.
