White Cops Use Excessive Force On Black Suspect, Break His Spine, And Now He’s Dead (VIDEO)

Another day, another unarmed black man dead at the hands of white cops. 27-year-old Freddie Gray was arrested by officers of the Baltimore Police Department and had such force used against him by the arresting cops that he required a double surgery on his voice box and three broken vertebrae. He died Sunday morning, April 19, after several days in a coma.

Of course, as in all of these situations, the police allege that there was no wrongdoing on their part. The officers who arrested Gray say that while, yes, they had him restrained on the ground, he was otherwise fine when he was taken into custody. Clearly, since the man is now dead after grievous bodily injury that occurred at their hands, this is untrue. Luckily, a cell phone video shows the truth, and the force used during Gray’s arrest has been described as “brutal.”

Residents of Gray’s neighborhood are rightfully angry at this senseless and brutal death, and have taken to the streets in protest. Rev. Jamal Harrison Bryant of the Empowerment Temple has taken the a leading role in the protests, and said to fellow protesters on Saturday:

“What happened to Freddie was unnecessary and uncalled for. All of those police officers involved need to be held accountable and answer for what they did, and need to be terminated from their positions.”

He’s right. Only, they don’t just need to be fired. They need to be charged with some form of homicide as well.

The officers involved in the incident that eventually led to Freddie Grey’s death are now on administrative duties. Their names have not been released (though they should be). There will be unrest if swift action is not taken in this matter, as there should be. Hopefully, the public does not stand down until these so-called officers are behind bars where they belong. Each and every time these cops senselessly murder unarmed black men, we must demand justice. This is the only way to make it stop, and to reform law enforcement. We must all force them to acknowledge this problem, and to accept that #BlackLivesMatter, too.
